molasses

I am 3 weeks into veg, using liquid karma with good results. Is there any benefit for using molasses during veg or is it mostly for the flowering stage? Any other suggestions for good nutes for veg and flowering?

molasses/ carbs can be beneficial for veg however are more essential for flower..

Add Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy to your flowering feed's. It has carboload in it which is similar to molasses.

As far as good nutes goes- Canna, Botanicare, and Humbolt Nutes are my favorite 3 brands. I think they have all figured out their own feeding schedules very well! Canna is simple, Botanicare is more natural, and Humbolt has chemicals dialed in perfectly as far as their feed schedule goes, so that pH is always neutral.. All 3 brands are winners. The 1 brand that I have never used but gets good reputation is FloraNova

If you wanna keep it extremely simple, just use age old grow/bloom, liquid karma, and adv. nutes bud candy.. REALLY- you could produce good results JUST USING Age Old and Liquid Karma, but im a fanatic about the bud candy..

Here is a little piece on molasses by some respected organic gardeners. It explains where it comes from, what its benefits are, and how it should be used (or thought about) in the context of organic gardening.

No offense, but you sound like a salesman at a hydro store. How much does that Bud Candy stuff cost?

hahahaha never worked at a shop or for a nute company..
1 liter = 25-30 bucks (not too expensive at all, I only use 2-5ml per gallon)

I talk it up because it makes buds noticeably more sugary IMO

I have used molasses throughout my first run, a small amount with some aerated fish tank water.

Seems to do well. Plant is nice and healthy, nice medium dark green.

There seems to be a misconception that Molasses can be used as a flower booster. Added to soil or hydro, it will simply help the microbe population in your medium.

The sucrose in molasses is a disaccharide, which is NOT used in cellular production. The other products, flower booster type things, I assume like carboload, provide(I assume) the other simple and complex carbs which are used in cellular production. It is not just a Molasses/water solution in a jar, sold at a high cost.

molasses can be used in both veg and bloom. along with the sugars it has potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and vitamin B6 in it. the sugars feed the microherd and not so much the plant, but with organics it is all about feeding the soil anyway. healthy soil=healthy plants

Molasses is loaded with K, check the label.

Molasses

I have read on ICMAG that Molasses with sodium in it can cause nute lockout. If I recall, the plant will absorb the sodium first before the CA, MG & K.

Look for organic Molasses with no Sodium.

I bought Grandma's Robust Molasses because it had greater percentages of CA,MG & K. However it also has Sodium in it. When I used the G.R.M. my plants suffered. I had to flush my soil quite a bit.
