Yes folks, apparently Mexico is about to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, meth and heroin! President Calderon in the middle of an immense war against the Narcos, drug gangs, has decided smartly to focus resources on the big dealers, and not the casual consumer.
Will Mexico see a surge in drug tourism and become the next Amsterdam? Why spend so much to go to Europe when you can just cross the border for a high time? Unfortunately the low amounts covered by the new law aren't realistic. 5 grams of cannabis? Come on, I doubt they ever sell anything smaller than an ounce south of the border...
If only the US would follow Mexico's lead on this. Instead we remain the most puritanical country regarding the personal use of drugs (after Singapore).
