Has anyone else tried this? Ive imported this from mexico a few years back once from this guy, man was it awesome. the high was incrediable. anyone else ever try it?
I've got some mexican michoacan sativa's and there very nice and have done alot better then i thought they would with them never been grown indoors before, dank musky/leather hashy aromas/flavours and a very nice skull clamping high.
Here's my Oaxacan Gold that I chopped a while ago - took 12 weeks, and yielded over two ounces from a 24-inch plant - amazing. The aroma was peppery/fruity with a hint of diesel, and very smooth and sweet to smoke, with an awesomely smooth up high - very good stuff indeed:
my mom was telling me about it over the weekend, she said it would come in cans of peppers or something, they'd open the can up and it was herb inside, the michoacan came this way and had a buttery taste, she said it was the most buttery tasting herb she had ever tried, comparing it to theater popcorn, the time and era for this going down for her was probably 69~71 san diego
No, they were sent to me by another grower. I've just lost this one actually, as all the clones died - last one in flower now, to finish in two weeks. Shame, but it's out there now, so others will have to keep the Oaxacan flag flying...
I can have a go, but there aren't usually many leaves left by harvest! I haven't got the time or patience to try and nurture it back really - shame, as it's the best-yielding strain I have, but I got some f2 seeds, and should have a nice cross with JLo this time, so it's all good.
i still have a pack of Mexican oaxacan given out as freebies years ago from the bay....I never have popped them due to length of flower needed and wasn;t sure if they were any good..but this makes me curious again..
i've read about a oaxacan black strain that actually takes 2 years to really truly be finished
apparently it would grow buds the first year, they are okay, but the second year is when the really ready buds are ripe
funny that it is kind of a perennial, i heard it gets real big and is kind of vine like, man some day lord willing i'll run across that and give it a go, sounds like a fun project...lol i wonder how it would react to some lowryder #2 pollen? haha, some folks would think that's wrong i'm sure but who knows =)
the only oaxacan black strain I've heard about finishes early
it seems people come out of the woodwork claiming they heard about some perennial cannabis plant that has 3 foot wide leaves and other such incredible claims, I know of ~30 week strains but I've yet to come accross any real information about perennial plants
I was in Oaxaca last year, bought a little baggie for 50 pesos. The smoke was stellar, and I found 9 good seeds which I brought home with me. I put 4 of them into soil last night, so wish me luck! I hope they don't take two years to finish... LOL
Instead of trying to root a clone from a flower that is almost finished, why not leave a couple of the small buds at the base of the stem and put it back to a 18/6,20/4 or 24/0 lighting schedule to reverse the plant, then take cuttings from the reversal when in vegetative stage.
This is an important strain in MJ breeding history and should be kept pure if possible.
Smokefrog; Michoacan and Oaxacan are two different landrace sativas from central and southern Mexico. Both were imported in the 60's and 70s and any genetics from these pure varieties would be a real treasure to save.
