Medical records?

Aren't our medical OUR property, technically speaking? I was just told by my pot docs office that they will not send out medical records at my request to me, for a fee or free of charge. No wonder his office is being investigated...

HIPAA changed rules. They are not your property, but you can access them for copies. I always said I was going for 2nd opinion, however still had to supply info of what Dr. they went to....because I have chronic issues, I paid for a disk of my records for my own use.

I see, thanks for the input. Still seems a bit crooked to me but it is what it is. My records are originally from another physician who is a bit tough to work with, was just hoping my pot doc was going to be easier to go about it. Ugh... Oh well, gotta jump through the hoops I suppose.
