Marijuana no longer the focus of Anti-Drug Ads

There's a growing danger to the youth of America, but it's not marijuana. It's prescription drugs that are now being abused in ever increasing numbers by children and adults. Since prescription drug abuse is far more dangerous than cannabis (nobody has ever died from marijuana), the nation's anti-drug campaigns have shifted their focus to these prescribed drugs, and ignoring the more benign marijuana.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/07/15/national/main5161388.shtml

Check out the graphs and other info linked from that page. They show the amount of each drug being consumed.

Looks like the drug companies are gonna have to cough up some more money and move the focus somewhere else huh.

Its good news hopefully it stays there.

You know Im thinking about this a little more.
Im thinking people are gonna be scared to hand out scripts when this goes too far.
Then scripts are gonna be harder to come by and people are gonna have to find alternative High's, back to the weed basically.

I've only ever seen 1 anti-weed ad I ever remotely agreed with.
Theres 2 chicks and the 1 is smoking pot and kind of deflates and goes into the couch, and the other one is like "Thats all she does anymore"

Sorry to say but weed is procrastination meds at its finest.. smoke a joint and your content to sit around and watch shit that you wouldnt watch high.

Great post, I had no idea Viagra had killed 2500+ in 8 years, also from the report, this is criminal.... The drug Vioxx also known as: Rifecixub, Arofexx (used to treat osteoarthritis and pain) was withdrawn by the makers after it killed 4500 people, there was no need to ever license this drug, Marijuana in one form or another would have been far more effective with no risk to life.

I have to politely disagree with you 100%. Not all strains will make you lazy or give you a body stone. If you grow your own medicine, you can tweak any strain to be more of a "downer" by allowing the trichomes to all turn amber. This will increase CBD production/percentage.

If you're using this plant legitimately as medicine or therapy, you'd know there are many sativa strains which are used to give people MORE ENERGY.

Lazy people do not need a drug to blame on their laziness. I know straight edge people who live like slobs. One has nothing to do with the other.

Again, respectfully, your argument is weak (from a rhetorical point of view).

Peace,

When did i say lazy? I said procrastination. And i never said i agreed with what the ad was saying, I said I remotely agreed. If you people won't even admit it makes watching sponge bob funny (which the show is not when solber, at least i think so) or anything else on tv for that matter.. as in if you didn't just smoke that bowl you would be out doing something else instead of sitting in front of the tv watching the garbage they feed us, then you are just as bad as the ads claiming its the devil.

That's where you said 'lazy' ... in so many words. Not that it matters whether or how you said it... point is many of us have quite contradictory experiences and your argument simply holds no water.

Some pot does have that kind of effect, but not nearly enough to start getting into blanket statements like that.

PS - Sponegebob is just as funny sober. :smoke:

Did you ever stop to think it's not the cannabis in your original argument? Television itself is notorious for making people lazy or forgetful of time. You don't need to blame cannabis for it.

So calm down, I told you I wasn't flaming your post. Just disagreeing on the argument presented by your language.

Generalizations are why it was criminalized 70 years ago...re-legalization needs more facts than opinions. You stated an opinion, I replied with clinically shown facts.

My girl frens son is a pill head. What he doesn't draw from the Cherokee Nation comes from some other form of welfare or benevolence.

This ass hat knows enough dealers and buyers to make a steady living flipping pot alone. He's too busy chasing pills to realize it's the easiest job in the world next to hooking. Instead of making a respectable 20 to 25% steady profit, he resorts to ripping people off and lying about the details. He gets so stoned on pills he actually admits that the rip off is an inseparable part of the game. When sober, he wonders aloud why nobody does business with him. Now the pills have his brain scrambled when he's no longer under the influence. I tried telling him what he says about the rip off when he's babbling. Didn't do any good, his soul is already warped.:badday:

Its all good dude, I am calm :joint: And yes you are totally right generalizations are bad. I should have said my own experience, and i didn't mean to hijack this thread or anything. I do 100% disagree with the other ads, like the girl that gets pregnant cause she smoked a joint.. HA

And yes there are motivator strains out there, but when your buying from the street.. which most teens are going to have to do. You don't get those types of strains, at least not very often anyways. I myself was buying like that for the last 15 years... theres no place i can walk into and have my choice in my neck of the woods.

Yeah, and the legacy Michael Jackson left behind will help to keep pushing the focus away from marijuana, and towards a better target. Where it belongs!
