Malawi indoor/outdoor grow. New Zealand

a full season outdoor here could grow 20ft tall plants from pure sativas - 4 months veg for a sativa is insane. look for kangativa grows man - pure potential from cannabis sativa.

most of the leaves on the mother are under 1cm in width, there's a lot of 3 bladed leaves.
she has some good size buds now.

Hi Kiwi how does the Malawi in NZ go as fare as strength? I have never been able to get Malawi anywhere near the strength I used to get in Malawi, growing them in Aussi, sure they grow huge but the high is not a patch on the real deal from Malawi it lacks the trippy high its just a stoned high.

Hi, I haven't fully grown out Malawi in NZ yet - did you grow in Malawi or are you talking about buds you bought?. what Malawi did you grow in aussie?, maybe Malawi is more suited to wetter or more 'subtropical' climates rather than the dry desert of NW aussie?
what temps do you get in flowering during the day?

I'd say aces version is more suited to upper NZ/victoria rather than the rest of Aussie. A stoned high doesn't sound too good for a sativa - the only reason to grow pure sativas is for the high right?.

This is my favourite plant in terms of growth so far.

Here's the mother about a month into 'actual' flower.

Hi Kiwi this is the first time I will grow Ace Malawi outdoors, the seeds I refere to I brought with me from Malawi and were taken from good cobs I bought over there. There were many different types of plants at least a dozen. I grew them for 20 years in the south west of Aussie. I never got the crazy scary highs I experienced from the African grown heads. The plants seemed to be lacking something. Have you ever had Malawi grown in Malawi? If not then you will not know what I mean.
The current Ace malawi fem I am growing is a great plant massive resin production and nearly ready to harvest after a good cure it should be good so I will wait with fingers crossed to see how it turns out. Anyway good luck with yours I will be following this grow for sure.

Have you tried ace malawi indoors yet?. Were the seeds from Malawi stable or was there a lot of variation?. Hmm maybe the THC profile is different under the Aus sun?. Na i've never had malawi full stop mate, that's why I'm so excited to try this.

I'm pretty sure ace malawi will be potent at my latitude(37) because it was selected at the same latitude in spain I think. I love my pheno so far, I can see the massive yield potential in this plant. Those pic you posted looks like a classic pure sativa - amazing.

When does the Malawi start flowering over there?, mid to late feb?

Thanks dubi, the Malawis are loving New Zealand's sun. It must be true that Malawi can adapt to other climates well. I should get some colours by the end april.

Nice plants Kiwi I wish you the best of luck. The seeds I brought over were very fresh and grew quickly, I was growing them in the south west, quite cool for Australia. But after a few years I noticed they were getting pollinated by other peoples grows and were not true sativa any more.
The climate in Malawi varies from cool nights and hot humid days on mount Mulangi and highland areas to hot and dry. Its not a cool climate at all, mostly hot and wet in the summer and warm and dry in the winter.
That is why I am going to try the Ace Malawi in our NW this winter because its warm and dry. I will have to water them of course.
Either way yours are looking really cool and should produce a big harvest. Go the all Blacks.

Thanks man, it's cool talking to an experienced Malawi grower. This plant fascinates me and it's interesting that the australian sun brings out different terpenes or thc profiles with the Malawi. sucks about that it isn't pure sativa anymore, did you grow close to other people or something?

Go regular with the Ace Malawi mate, awesome plants and you don't even need to hunt down the 'best' pheno because they're all good in their own ways. Best looking veg plant I've seen outdoors.
5 ft in 6 weeks of being outside. vigorous and an awesome branching system.

Hi Bro, yes its a magic plant, my feminised I have indoors is just starting to get good, I have 90% cloudy trichs.
I have tried it, and its getting really strong but I will need to let it go to 15 or 16 weeks to get the strong trippy high.
But right now its an awesome powerful trip. At 12 weeks bugger all, in one week it turned on the fire works.
The area I grew in the SW was full of pot heads, so it was pollinated by others easily, hopefully mine did them some good.
I will revege this baby and clone it for growing in the bush, should work well.
I wish I had a space to grow a dozen regulars mate but no chance. I will plant a dozen clones and hopefully one or two make it without getting eaten by the roos.
Meanwhile yours will be trees come harvest, you will need a step ladder to sniff the top colas. If you are lucky the high will turn you onto a whole new meaning of the word. Its totally different to anything else I have ever had. I find its like living outside your body its surreal you will see and feel things you never new existed.
Cant wait to see your end product.
Tangwena.

hey mate, so is that 15-16 weeks based off when you switched them over or when the malawis first showed sex?

heres an indoor mother bud at 8-9 weeks since 12/12 but took around 3 weeks to show sex

How long left having a rough guess, half way done?
This is my first time growing an equatorial sativa.

I can't wait to see some dried pics of that indoor malawi you have going, did you ever take pic of the Malawi you used to grow in upper australia?.

She's a crazy growing plant that's for sure, buds growing in all directions

Hi Kiwi no pics of outdoor but I will next grow with Aces stuff. I counted from the first sign of bus developing. Forget about counting weeks just go by trichs when they are all cloudy and just starting to amber is when I like to start. The high was piss weak untill 13.5 weeks then bang suddenly very strong. If you pick to early you will be very disapointed I am going to watch the trichs like a hawk but it will be worth the wait believe me. You will probably have to stake her as she will grow massive colas outside. They just take forever to mature outside but patiance will be rewarded big time.
From your pics I would guess and it is a guess 3 months plus still to go.

Kiwi the buds will get fat then start to swell to double the size believe me theres a long way to go mate

Beautiful plants mate. Africa has some of the best sativas on the planet - Malawi, swazi, trankei etc.

Ace seeds says 14 weeks, I wonder if that's from flower or when they first show sex - they take about 3 weeks to show from ace. I reckon another 8 weeks for mine, maybe 10 for max potency. It is a seed mother plant so it will take awhile to flower.

I think the Malawis will be ready by may-mid may outside being clones.
Ace have a slightly shorter flower Malawi acclimated to the southern spain mountains at 37N, I'm 37S. It looks like it has adapted perfectly to my climate, biggest yield potential I've seen outdoors.

hi Kiwi I cut the Malawi a day ago it was 2.7 kilos of bud with stalk and leaf. After trimming and drying I expect over 8 to 900g. Thats awsome under lights i cannot believe how dense and heavy the colas are they are the same size as if I grew them outside on a full size plant.
Cant wait for the bush grow with this girl.

T,
That is a fantastic grow! Nice job.
For myself, I wouldn't know what to do with that much all at once. If I'm lucky one day I may have to figure it out. I will be happy to get 4oz from my one Malawi bonsai.
Thanks for the hope.

Wait what?! 8-900 grams! off one plant?, how many watts of light mate?.
Malawi has the freaky ability to grow as well as indoors as out, I've heard of ridiculous yields from Malawi that I half believed but now I see that this is one extreme cannabis variety.
extreme yields, vigour and high from Malawi, this plant will stick with me for life.

Please keep us updated Tangawena, Even 300 grams would be amazing.

BC, what's your grow space and lighting situation? it may take awhile to flower but expect a lot of weed and expect it to grow in all different directions.

Harvest

Harvest

Hi Brother here are the picks I will show weight once it has dried more, the main colas are really dense, not airy at all, more like an indica plant.
The more mature heads smell very strongly of lemon and pine not sweet anymore, its so strong its like a perfume ,and so sticky they stick together.
For lighting
I had two 375 watt Ceramic Metal Halides in a cool tube, I think the extra red and high uv they put out has made a big difference I will use them always from now on.
I agree Malawi is special I have always thought so, now I can prove it to my doubting friends.

Hey guys,
When I say Bonsai I really mean it. I have my Malawi in 2'(w)x1.5'(d)x1.5'(h) growing space. The minimal height is because of the recirculating Hempy that I have it growing in. I will be doing daily training with this girl to keep her controlled.
