First time poster... good to meet you all and I am enjoying the forums so far! I have smoked for a while and at this point I am pretty much ready to drop the smoking and move toward a healthier option (oil or tincture).
I realize that there are some procedures out there and that decarboxylation is a pretty simple process but I developed my own procedure and was looking for input. Here is the procedure feel free to tell me its ridiculous or good or whatever you think.
The Curing process is complete and the nuggets are prime for smoking. I have two ounces and plan to use all but one nugget of each for the process.
1. Desiccate nuggets over activated silica gel beads until extremely dry.
2. gently break the nuggets into small chunks in a 500mL beaker
3. Bake dried nugget chunks in the beaker at 200F for 30 minutes. (they should rewet due to water generated from decarb)
4. Place the beaker back into the desiccator until dry and crispy again.
5. repeat steps 3 and 4 until the baking step ceases to generate water based on visual inspection.
6. Once the decarboxylation process is complete nuggets will be pulverized to a very fine powder.
7. Powder will be added to a chromatography column and placed into the freezer overnight.
8. Column will be filled with butane and allowed to sit for 1 minute and then drained into an erlenmeyer flask that is submerged in hot water to boil off butane.
9. Column step repeated up to 5 times until color runs clear or becomes significantly dark.
10. extracted product will be placed back into the desiccator and placed under vacuum overnight to purge.
11. Product is redissolved in 95% or higher ethanol and filtered into an amber glass dropper top bottle for use.
12. product is tested for strength the old fashioned way and potency adjusted by ethanol evaporation until dosage minimal.
If you have any thoughts on this process please comment or critique. No amateur comments please, and no comments on safety or equipment cost or availability.
**I did not have time to proofread so please excuse any mistakes, I will clarify if necessary.
