Don't bother with mars or any led light that looks purple. They basically have nothing going for them over hps. As you can see from my kill a way readings the backstar old purple led light I have was advertised as 240w but only draws 108w from the wall. lots of led companies are really full of shit as to what the lights actually do. If you get a purple led you need 50w per square foot.

I would only recommend getting led lights from a handful of companies, and yes you will pay more than comparable hps or cmh lights.

What you want is about 30-40w per square foot of growing area with cobs or quantum boards. Have a look at the links below:
Cobs-
https://www.rapidled.com/horticulture-kits/
https://timbergrowlights.com

Quantum boards-
https://growerslights.com/collections/horticulture-lighting-group-quantum-board-led-kits
https://atreumlighting.com

The light I pictured above was the following:
Board and heatsink 74.99
https://atreumlighting.com/collecti...full-spectrum-grow-light-panel-samsung-lm301b
Driver 49.99
https://atreumlighting.com/collections/led-drivers/products/meanwell-hlg-120h-54-led-driver-120w
Connector kit 14.00
https://atreumlighting.com/collecti...-power-cord-wago-lever-nut-junction-connector

so that is currently about $139 plus a bit of shipping. Also need a bit of 18g solid core wire and something like garden wire to make a hanger. Only took about ten minutes to assemble. Compare that to the HlG kit for 187.49 or for another 25 they will pre assemble it for you for a plug and play situation. https://growerslights.com/collectio...t-quantum-board-led-kit?variant=8194288910437

Atreum also is an eBay seller with a "make an offer" option. I have seen people offer 69.99 with free shipping for the heatsink 288 board combo with success, so you could try that to save a few bucks. Also you can shop around and perhaps find a cheaper deal on the driver.

If you think you can handle slightly more diy have a look at the strip light builds here for some real savings: https://ledgardener.com/diy-led-strip-build-designs-samsung-bridgelux/

well thats my rap on led choices, hope thats helpful.

edit* for smaller spaces on a real budget screw in led bulbs will outgrow something like a mars. Head over to the micro grow section and folks will school you on those.

Thanks for the explanation, it looks a good light and the price is also very decent. I will check it out. Do you think white color can bring more yield than purple? If so, what is the main reason?

A lot of people have walked through and felt uneasy talking about the stripes on your leaves. Nobody wants to give bad advice. I will put my neck out a little though.

Your mix of coco and cow muck is awkward to work with. Nobody knows what's in the cow muck. It depends what the cow ate, and that can change from local pasture to winter feeds shipped in. It's not going to be consistent. It will be a constant learning curve. Cow muck makes a reasonable additive, but using it alone is unlikely to give you what the plants need. I think that's the fix, and I should pull out of this thread now..

I'm going to risk a diagnosis of Magnesium. It was my first thought, and nothing has derailed me yet. Other metals are possible, but Mg is the most common. You seem to of addressed it using cal/mag with some luck, and it's not calcium spotting. So I'm feeling a bit more certain. I would target it directly though, with just Mg. I would need to check, but are cal+mag not competitors? So excessive Calcium could actually be the cause of the Magnesium problem? Personally, and it's a view shared by many, I think cal-mag products are for hardening up soft water. This paragraph is entirely irrelevant though. Unless you live on coco moon, with just daisy the cow and one last bean you simply must grow, then the correct course of action is to not use just cow muck.

I'm not allowed to edit yet (under 50 posts) or I would see why the word 'hardening' in my last past has been altered to make me look like I have gay interest. I in no way wanted that word to stand out (oh the pun. I'm making it worse)

Wow, they looks so beautiful. Thanks man.

I regards to white vs purple light I'm probably not the right person to ask. I'm just repeating what I have seen here on the net as well as the advice given to me. The newer lights are putting out more usable light than the older purple for the electricity used is the notion. Folks recommend 30ish w per square foot for quantum boards / cobs and 50 w per square foot for hps / purple led. I have seen people get good results with both but it seems that the newer technology has jumped forward recently. If you'd like to know more, go peruse the led gardener forum or the roll it up led section forum. I'm no expert in the grand scam of things. I was just trying to be helpful.

I don't know, mag deficiency seems like a correct diagnoses to me. I have been flushing for a week and a half or so, most likely the cause. Edit2* I will also add that Im growing in a basement and if I forget to close the door nighttime temps can drop in the tent to around 60-65f, I know that can be a factor with growth and deficiencies as well.

I do take issue with talking shit (hehe) on manure. I an an ornamental gardener and use both local and bagged manure regularly. Its great stuff in my opinion. The stuff I used is Foster Brothers Manure bagged from my local nursery with a guaranteed analysis of 1-1-1.

I cut my mix 50-50 with poop because I wandered into my local hydro store early in this grow. I got talked into buying this awful "coco-peat" soil that I came to loath. Was very hard to wet evenly. However I spent hard earned moneys on a bag of soil so I cut it with manure as its something I am familiar with. Currently, as of this last transplant, I'm back into a soilless peat based mix with the heri's.

edit* no one should feel bad about offering constructive criticism, not in my my thread anyway!

For those wondering I ended up with 5.7 oz of the tk x Iraq. Very high quality, some of the best I have grown to date. Thinner yield than last run but much improved product, absolutely rock hard buds as well.

Here are the heri at about day 28 or so of flower. Having a hard time keeping temps up in the basement. I ended up putting my old 150w hps in the veg tent and ducting it into the flowering tent. 58-60 lights off and 71 lights on.

This is crazy, I never seen so many tops in such a small area. Beautiful work zappa!
I would lower the lights a bit at this stage.
What if you just add the hps in the tent, or do you use it for heating at night also?

Cheers

Yah I’m using the hips 24/7 so it does help with the night temps. Had to defoliate quite a bit, heri loves to branch apparently! It’s going to be wall to wall once they start swelling...

Just starting to jar up the heri, got 6.5oz so far with between a third and a fourth of the scrog screen still drying. Looks like I’ll hit 8 oz easy. Sorry I kind of dropped the ball on updating for this grow.
