Hi guys!

I am growing some lemon rado regs! On the pheno hunt for a good mother plant - especially looking for a good effect / taste combo, hopefully it turns out to be some good sour lemon og! :D
  1. [5 Dec] Started 10 seeds
  2. 9/10 germinated (took a few days longer than usual but all healthy and well)
  3. 5/10 were males and tossed (not interested at the moment) - the males were overall the bigger plants but similar on the stem rub
  4. [27 Feb]4/10 are confirmed females
    1. 1/10 is still unconfirmed sex (I damaged the first pre-sex so vegging this one for longer till I know)
    2. Clones have been kept of each :D
  5. [12 May] Harvesed around day 75-78 of 12/12, hung upside down to dry
    1. The first test sample bong hits already have the described 'soaring head high', very impressive for quick dried test samples. The smell is not strong but the resin has a deep flavor, deep in the lungs. The resin sensation/flavor is mainly sour with a bit of lemon skin.
They are in 7L (1.84 gallon) pots with green house bio feeding nutrients, fed with blumat dripers and attended only once every two weeks (which is why I let them veg so slow, doing a few defoliations, taking clones and topping.

Nice, I'm glad to see a grow of this cross. I almost bought a pack last year but instead I took the Acid Dawg so if I see something I like in your grow maybe I'll reconsider buying some. Good luck.

Nice! Ive been following all your grows thanks for sharing :D
I grew a few Melo rados, the melon phenos cured to a ginger terp (first time I smelled this terp, it comes through very well in rosin) - but too leafy and many stems in the flowers to be a keeper for me - and the karmarado phenos were nice dank herby og so I went for the lemon rados in the hope to get great sour kush :D

I have to agree with you about the leafy aspect of the Melon hybrids, I have never had to take so much leaves from my plants before, it seems LED's are promoting leaves growth as well so the combo of the light and genetics is not a great feature on my current grow. At least I should be able to make a good lump of ice-o-lator with all the sugar leaves.

Day 26 of 12/12 update:

I misconfigured the blumats and they all have some damage from water shortage, the one in the back right nearly died. (lost all of my bigger flower tent, everything dried out on the plants..) Luckily this one had small plants in small pots that didn't need a lot of water. Going to spannabis came at a price xD but least we picked up some lucky dog chemd x chem91bx2 that I am hyped to grow!

Also there is some thrips damage... I have a hard time getting rid of them they keep coming back.

The lemon rados are doing well, they stretched a bit less than anticipated, probably because they were topped before flower and lst during the stretch.

They are slowly starting to produce terps, nothing I can comment on yet, other than that it seems to be going in the right direction. The trichome production is on point as you can see in the macro picture.

The one that looks most promising also looks like the lowest yielder and biggest stretcher, as is often the case in my experience 😁

I'll be back in 2 weeks with the next update. Hopefully this time I setup the blumats correctly 😅

Sorry for your big tent man, it's always hard to lose a harvest. The blumat are useful but it's important to configure them and be present for a few days before leaving them doing their job for a long period. it's not easy to not have access to your grow for 2 weeks, no none can check it for you ?
The Lemonrado, are tough if they have been able to support this kind of mistreatment and still thrive like they did. The number of resin glands is impressive for only 26 days, they will be really frosty at harvest time.

The blumats stopped watering around 12 days after leaving them... I'm not sure what happened I maybe connected too many in parallel, somehow there wasn't enough pressure. Now I upgraded the water reservoir and put it higher for more stable pressure. I used these blumats for more than a year before having a failure (apart from a flood which was my own fault early on :D)

Day 40 of 12/12 update:

IMG_20230408_162225.jpg

- they recovered form lack of water, but show some signs of stress
- they are light green, with more or less a lack of magnesium (interveinal chlorisis) - - > i already suspected them to want extra mg so I gave them more Epsom salts than I usually do and still this shortage, am I mis diagnosing??
- they got quite a bit of nutrients up to now, maybe they are pretty heavy feeders or maybe it is mainly from the lack of water stress

They all have a but of a citronella herby smell, I grew 'lemon t' (lemon tree x cookies n cream s1) and it definitely shares terps in common, but these lemon rado terps are less strong on the citronella / anti mosquito and have a bit of 'funk' to them, especially pheno #3 seems to have a bit more sour funk, and pheno #1 really reminds me of our Josh D keeper with very sticky resin and the terps directly made me think of Josh D (which I smoke daily :D), I also had some karmarado og phenos from the Melo rado genetics but weirdly the lemon rado #1 pheno reminds me more of the Josh D with a touch of exotic/tropical terps

Here are the phenos labeled in order:
Lemon rado #1 - 'og pheno' pretty sticky resin
IMG_20230408_162247.jpg IMG_20230408_162314.jpg

Lemon rado #2 - similar to #4 with a tad less yield
IMG_20230408_162322.jpg IMG_20230408_162333.jpg

Lemon rado #3 - similar to 2&4 but with a hint more sour and a hint of the dank funk that I'm looking for. My guess is this is the keeper. Seems like less dense flowers.
IMG_20230408_162343.jpg IMG_20230408_162358.jpg

Lemon rado #4 - the higher yielder

Harvested.

Should have gone 2 weeks longer, but they are ripe enough to choose which phenos to keep.
They have been moved to the dry tent.

The next session going in to flower right now in this tent is 3* sour diesel (riri cut) x Bubba kush, zamaldelica, white kali, breakpad breath.

Pressing some mids of the lemon rado #1, got 30% yield!!! That is insane for compared to what I was expecting! The terps carry through to the rosin and it has a pretty full effect for rosin - above my average plant

(the other 3 phenos yield somewhere around 20-25%)

Quick update:

After 2+ months cure, the jars are not empty and I always choose other jars than the lemon rados. I didn't do them justice so can't really judge, so take the following with a grain of salt :D

- pheno #1 is clearly much better than the rest, the only stickyicky pheno, very good rosin yield but after regular use my opinion is it is not special enough to keep
- overall the effect is relatively weak (yea sure its stronger than gelato cookies inbred stuff yea but this does not get me high unless I take a tolerance break... I mainly smoke dabs / bong hits)
- overall taste is not very present when smoking (a bit of creamy lemon, very mute smell compared to other lemon tree crosses I have tried, which tend to be very terpy like hard lemon candy with a bit of creaminess)
- I think I messed up the grow, they had nutrient shortages and too much led light, I think they could do better

---> For me personally I like the deep penetrating sour fermented cheese catpis skunk scent that tends to come around 40-60 days cure and the phenos I got with the they way I grew them do not have a penetrating scent/taste and did not evolve much during cure. I have a mate growing clones, he doesn't have the nutrient deficiencies but the plants came out more or less the same.

! IMPORTANT !
The description says "lemon fuel pinesol", so I expected a variant of lemon og / sour lemon og type strain, which I did not get. These plants have hints of lemon and hints of sour but no dank pinesol fuel like I expect from sour og strains. So either I grew them all so badly that the plants did not express themselves properly, or I just got unlucky with the phenotypes, or I am looking for something else and this is simply not my taste.

FYI for comparison I have a josh d clone I am running for the 3rd time, 1 puff from a joint of that josh D is stronger than a full joint of any of these lemon rados. That's why i don't smoke these lemon rados, it feels like my lungs are smoking but im not getting high (compared to the rest of my stash).
