Police bust largest grow-op in Canadian history

PEMBROKE, Ont. — Police in eastern Ontario believe they’ve busted the largest marijuana grow operation in Canadian history.

More than 40,000 plants were seized after provincial police raided a farm in Laurentian Valley Township, just outside Pembroke, Ont., last Thursday.

Numerous officers were called in over the weekend to help recover the plants as well as some farming equipment.

Police say plants were growing between corn stalks, and an irrigation system ran through the property from a pond and an above-ground swimming pool.

Supt. Frank Elbers says it’s the largest marijuana grow operation the force has seen since the former Barrie brewery plant operation in 2003, which saw some 30,000 plants seized.

No arrests have been made.

I have often thought about planting some seeds in one of the Parks. There are areas that people have not been to in years. A few portages into some great area, plant some seeds, nute up the soil, cage them in.

make the same trip in October.

Too bad about those plants, those are crafty people using a swimming pool for water. Solar powered timer and pumps, your good to go

the cops on the ground communicated with a plane that was spotting them a relaying info....wish they had have shown vision from the plane but by the sounds of it it wasnt hard to spot all the small spaced out crops........shit im thinking 40,000 plants would really stick out.... lol crazy guys...mad even .HH. =]-~

Police bust grow-op in fortified house, man faces charges
By THE CANADIAN PRESS

APSLEY, Ont. - Provincial police have charged a 32-year-old man from Peterborough, Ont., after seizing nearly 1,000 marijuana plants and several weapons during a bust Tuesday at a fortified house.

Police say they found the man living in and guarding the house in Apsley, Ont., northeast of Peterborough, in possession of five long guns and a large amount of ammunition.

All 932 plants were destroyed.

Aaron MacDonald faces three drug-related charges and one of possession of property related to crime, and police say further charges are pending.

He's due to appear in court Oct. 30.

The alleged grow-op is just down the road from a site where 11,000 marijuana plants were seized by police on Sept. 9.

Thought this was a fitting story for this OP

What is wrong with the people in Pembroke. I was there this past summer, and needed some rolling papers.
In Canada, we have some serious rules about tobacco and like products, so everything is hidden. I mean everything, you would not even know they have any tobacco, unless you ask, well anyways, the girl ID'd me.

At the time I had a full beard ( I was on my way camping), and I am deep into my 30's. My avatar is not that far from what my beard looks like, full of grey. I came away with the impression that Pembroke was an uptight town in regards to weed

I guess I could not have been more wrong!
