But hamstring is right, i love nature and trees and i'm not out killiing mature, valued trees.
As someone in the upper southern US, all trees here arent valueable. Silverleaf maples were brought in by the coal companies as was cudzu. Ill kill a silverleaf 80 years old in a heartbeat. They are trash trees/ a cross between a willow and maple with huge root systems and self sow. Mimosa's from japan cover the whole of the mountains , I wack everyone i pass with a machete. And then you have just plain old scrub varieties of thorn, locust , honeysuckle and alder that grow up fast and big and then die in 15 years, to make room for the oaks and pines. Is killing them at 4 years a crime?
See, that's an informed view. The man knows his areas history and local fauna. No one even asked what kind of tree it was. Plus, I've learned a ton from this guy on ICMAG and I respect his opinion.
I second the Kudzu. Ugh. I had a good spot in the middle of a Kudzu patch but thinking about it's growth rate decided it would cover and drown my plants in a matter of weeks once the weather heated up and it got going. The stuff is an invasive pest.
