not sure about the skin, butternut has edible skin though. i like it cubed and roasted with a bit o garlic

you gotta try kabocha with adzuki bean. and I hear you on the squash and corn soup, although if you put in some beans you have all three sisters. just wish I had a stand alone freezer.

butternuts went a little longer than some others this year vs. the bugs, but acorn was the winner. my winter squash harvest was minimal though.

It's going to be a matter of optimal light cycles (being in Alaska), excellent soil (Alaska Humus), and good seed genetics. I'm sure the tea is helpful, but I'd be inclined to attribute the success more to these other factors. The tea is just a way to increase the microbes in the soil and on the leaf surface, in turn helping to protect the plant and increase nutrient cycling.
