I've seen only a few threads talking about vertical light movers on here, and the ones that do are all talk and no pics. Change has been brewing. The time has come. Welcome friends.
But first, I'd like to take you through the journey that brought me here.
I've been playing around with vertical for the last 4 months, and my style has progressed through 3 different setups:
First was a homemade 'cool cube' I made with 4 sheets of plexi glass, a window screen, and a box fan, all purchased at home depot for about $70.
I basically just cut a hole at the top of my tent for the fan. The cool thing about this setup was that it allowed me to put a plant underneath the light because the fan was at the top. I love maximizing my space
My second setup was your typical bare bulb vert scrog, which I am still in the middle of...
I built my scrog customized for each pot using some bamboo I had lying around, along with some string and gorilla tape.
These things are great! Easy to make and re-usable.
I really love this setup the results have been amazing. Here are 2 plants that are close to finishing:
Chem D at day 68
East Coast Sour D at day 58 (front, side, rear)
This is my biggest sour lady to date. I really love this 2nd setup. I've been chasing the yields I used to get in DWC and with these bamboo scrogs I am getting very close.
But, as always I was looking for the next level. I knew I wanted to try out a vertical light mover, and the threads I saw had some drawings of the basic design, so I decided to go for it. As of now, I only have 1 light hooked up to it, but as soon as I finish up with my 'cool cube' I'll bring that light on over.
Here is the mover connected very simply with a rope and a pulley to a bare bulb.
Rather than use pots again, I decided to attempt a pvc setup I saw on another thread, with a scrog. These towers are each connected to a wood base, very sturdy and easy to move, and I used basic wire fence. All purchased at Home Depot.
The light only moves about a foot and a half, timer set for 30 seconds on each end.
It's a work in progress. This room is only half filled so far. Very curious to see how well multiple small plants stacked in pvc will compare with one large girl in a pot.
These pics were all taken with a phone camera. Sorry if the quality is not the best.
Any questions, comments, or suggestions? I'd love to hear what you have to say.
