Like the way SPG thinks !
I was thinking this was going to be a thread about the alcohol reactive substance that was used in the rubber industry and also used to "treat' those with alcohol problems in the former USSR. Strange stuff , with strange history used in a very strange way , but hey it can be a strange world.

not possible cos our body needs lots of alcohol molecyles to get you
drunk. even pure spiritus cannot get you drunk enoung on very slow dosents. but gout can vaporise alkohol get instant drunk ;)

Barbiturates have been around since 1900 and became popular in the '60s and '70s. They have largely been replaced by benzodiazepines.

Following quote pulled from Web MD:
"In general, barbiturates can be thought of as so-called brain relaxers. Alcohol is also a brain relaxer. The effects of barbiturates and alcohol are very similar. Pain medicines, sleeping pills, and antihistamines also cause symptoms similar to those of barbiturates."
