Is THCa Federally Legal?

I recently came across an article about THCA carts and their legal status, and I wanted to get your thoughts on it. According to this post, THCA carts are considered federally illegal, but I've noticed them being sold at some stores near me, which left me quite puzzled.

I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on this topic. Is this information accurate? How are these stores able to sell THCA carts if they're federally illegal? Are there any loopholes or state-specific regulations that allow them to do so?

The only real difference between THC-A and THC is heat, i.e., decarboxylation. Light it up and it turns to THC, the very same process when you smoke buds in a bowl or joint, or if wanting to activate the THC, a more controlled heating process to decarboxylate in a controlled manner, i.e. 200- or 250-degrees f. for x amount of time..

That being the case, and THC-A being the nonconverted component in flower that becomes THC, my hunch is that the Feds take a very dim view of it.

While not likely on the top of their "Let's hunt THIS" list, it's also not apt to be on their warm and fuzzy Christmas gifts list either.

Maybe they have less than 0.3% THCA?

Grow your own and don't mess with shady carts.

D-8 THCA is proscribed in some places, but D-9 THCA is how it comes off the plant and is in widespread use.
