Is it ok to coil cords on a Gavita De fixture.

I'm setting up a new room with a bunch of Gavita De fixtures. The manual says not to coil the cords but I see so many photos in IG where the receptacle is right next to the ballast, cord is coiled and plugged in very close to the ballast for a real clean look on the install.

My room is setup similar, with the plug right next to the ballast and I've got an 8' cord to deal with. Can I not just coil the cord, zip tie it and plug it in?

Any insight is much appreciated, thanks!

Comfortably numb!
It creates resistance = heat. Just tie wrap the end loop to the conduit. Like in the back of your pic. Makes it neat and tidy and keeps resistance to minimum :tiphat:

No, as was said coiling creates resistence and heat, it could lower the input current and cause ballasts to malfunction or last less time.

Wouldn't a cable tie be better? :)

I give this some more thought. Just coiling them up in like a 200mm loop will be fine. Don't lay the loop flat on a metal surface though, or loop around a metal object. The side of the loop against the ballast will be fine, but not the large open side.
