First, be sure it is worth the generated wattage cost.

Then cover the light so it just heats....like foil.

There are many bulbs and aluminum fixtures used to heat chicken brooders, that is what you want.

Monitor the temps and use a timer to accomplish your goal.

It will work...

Great ideas. And yeah, the LST will come, being more adept for the next grow. It's all in the learning curve.

My tents are in a very cold basement and I fight cold temps year round. I use HID lighting, so when lights are on temp isn't an issue. But when lights go off it can drop to 50degrees.

I use a really small electric space heater and set it to 70degrees.

Another trick that people use is placing a heat mat(with thermostat) under your plants for lights off. Set it to 60degrees. If you can prevent the soil/medium from getting super cold then they can handle much colder temps.

I've never had a problem with temps above 60degrees. Even if it gets 80degrees lights on then drops to 60degrees at night, my plants don't seam to mind.

here is a gem of advice....I use an automatic electric food tray to heat plants be it new germ for tomatoes or any....Google them.

You want a variable temp (rheostat). Use a thermometer to measure temp, use perm marker to mark the honey spot and for under $10, sometimes $5 you have a perfect solution.

BTW I have 4 trays all purchased on the cheap. Do not buy the ones that you cannot adjust...they will melt plastic...don't ask how I know :)

Do those reptile heat mats, which are essentially ceramic infrared emitters in a flexible mat form, affect the photo period of flowering if you run one when lights are off to maintain heat?
