i used to live there...you are totaly right...
it would be so easy to work our high quality over there.....
your missing.... Club Media (for TFD weed)...Willy`s in Haarlam....Katsu was a good choice for cured weed....soma was an even better choice...
there is a organic place where bigbuddah hangs out near dam square, its the only place i know to sell good ECSD....
mellow yellow.....rocorjy(sp?).....central coffieeshop...Betty Boop....Rookies....the ~noon~...fuk man i could on forever...el gwapo..."sensi smiles in roterdam"....

from my experience oct is not the best time to go to the dam for selection im guessing anytime close to htcc is not a good time its true som shops hold the good stuff.i prefer the scene better in warmer weather like august also much better selection also.
not surprising on the lack of high quality but surprising all u report is la con n sp haze.
la con is my fav smoke in the dam next to hashplanthaze.katsu im not very familiar wit but i must say during the cup i was very dissapointed in this sp haze which is suppose to hav o.haze in there it was not so special.
but paniked reports damkring has som nevilles haze how bad could that be.
hunters has burmese kush .
grey area silver bubble n hindu kush .silva is fire im sure there hindu is special.
so if willie n sourcream, love potion n x18 ,haiwaian snow n martian mean green r around ill be alright wit a quarter of dynamite aka la con.i too hav visited n not been satisfied at the grade of selection at the time but the whole vibe n scene is a dream i hav every night at 2 lovin it .gettin jammed in the dam

It's a real shame that top quality weed is not regularly available in the Dam.
However, I'm also surprised that you never venture out of the capital.
For example, I went to Nijmegen this weekend just gone, and toked some very nice Haze, which was well grown, cured and smoked well.
I got it from T'Kunsje coffeeshop south of the main centre (see coffeeshop free uk).
They called it "S.Hees" in Dutch, and you know all the different popular clones better than me, but this wasn't Amnesia Haze, and it was too sativa to be the usual SSH clone.
So it was either a good Silver Haze, or a more sativa variety of SSH....maybe?
Either way, it was a nice smoke, and as their most expensive at 8 euro a gram, represented fairly good value, especially when compared to the Dam, where such smokes regularly go for 12-14 euro a gram, as you well know.
I also tried their Jack Herer, at 7 euro a gram, and that was ok, but nothing special. Again, it smoked well, but lacked the potency I seek
In fact, despite the S.Hees being very heady and trippy already, I later ramped it up with some of their best Moroccan hash, although the hash in Nijmegen is 2nd grade. This particular one was 7 euro a gram, and did bubble very slightly, but you can tell it was a different animal to the 1st grades we've smoked.
Plus, the Netherlands is such a nice country, I implore you to travel around

Yeah, you`re right guys, it ain`t easy to find good herbs in the Dam these days 
I´ve been there about 8 times in the last four years and if i compare my first trips to my last ones it`s really a sad story.In 2004 out of 15 samples only one was disapointing; everything else was well dried, top notch quality herb! It seems like the reinforced hunt on growers is the reason for the poor quality and the high prices these days. Many small scale growers, who were growing with heart, are afraid to grow nowadays, because of the heavy punishment they have to face (like loosing your flat n stuff). So the socalled "organized crime" took over the biz. There are still some shops selling good buds, but you really have to take a close look at what you´re buying, even in shops with good reputaion as Barney`s, Greenhouse, Dampkring etc..
I can recommend the Homegrown Fantasy shop; even if they don`t carry many different strains ,they really take care of the quality. Had some nice cheese on my last trip in june.

Hey all AceHaze has some good reccomendations. As far as the best weed goes, if you live in Cali or Canada or somewhere where the best bud is, or you grow your own and care for it well and cure it to perfection you might be dissapointed in Amsterdam bud. For most people the weed there would be excellent to them. I am a pretty light smoker so I just ask the guy at the coffeeshop what would be good to smoke, I tell them I just want something that tastes good and will give me a good buzz for walking around and checking out the sites. My favorite coffeeshop there is De Oude Kerk, not exactly known for the best stuff but friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere, they have always been cool there, and its never super busy so you can talk to the people working there and get lots of good info.

We may not find anything too adventurous (this is the Netherlands with its boring old clones, after all), but we will definately find better herb than in the Dam, and also at a better price.
I know price isn't really important for you, as you're a caner, lol, and just want to smoke as much as you can of the best possible quality, but it all adds up, and I'm sure it'd be a nice change to have some coin in your pocket at the end of the trip

hi guys, was on my way to see a friend in antwerp, when we decided to stop,fly and buy at a coffeshop somewhere in holland, we ended up stopping at a place named gorichem, parked up and started looking for a coffeshop, this is where we found the volke grappe, guys, trust me one of best selections in the whole of holland, they always win prizes at the highlife cups, on the menu they had 5 different amnesia/super silver haze ranging from the 11 euro ssh coco grown to the prize winning 14 euro amnesia, which was probably one of the best amnesia i have smoked this year, as well they had another 2 sativas as well, on the indicas there was another around 10 to select, bubblegum, pp, white widow, santa marta, all smelt and looked like bud used to be like in dam, the hash menu was good but nothing like the rifman/dampkring , i would seriosly recomend that you make a trip out to this place, peace bros, bb
I have to agree with a lot of whats been said so far
I lived in the Dam from 03 till recently and I noticed that over the years there the quality went down hill
occasionally I'd get some really good weed but that was mostly from growers there not the coffee shops

That's a very interesting report, thanks, but I'm wondering why if you were coming from Antwerp, did you go so far north as Gorinchem, when Breda and Tilburg, both with good shops, were a fair bit closer?
Btw: I looked it up on coffeeshop.freeuk, and found (for info purposes to other people), it's spelled Gorinchem with an N, and the coffeeshop is 'De Vrolijke Gaper'

This shop is a bit weird, it's quite literally a shop indeed because you can't really sit anywhere. It's a touch and go kind of shop, but nonetheless worth looking at if only for their immense collection of bongs. All neatly stacked with spots set on them, they blink away nicely in this black and red, 80s style shop. There is a very attractive lady helping customers sometimes, too.
