If "Erowid" was turned into a book...

It was alot better back in the day when it and sites like The Hive were allowed to teach not just tell about. The free speach on the internet changed alot after 9/11.

I love erowid.. not only is it extremely interesting, but it serve's an invaluable purpose as the ultimate harm reduction website when it comes to harder drugs.. I know I would have made some stupid decisions with drugs in the past if it wasn't for erowid

I smoked some meth after consulting erowid

WTF? Can you read? Do you only read things you agree with, and ignore the overwhelming rest of the evidence?

Lots more where those came from. That's one of the great things about erowid.

edit: flew off the handle a bit, sorry Theratings. Perhaps there is a deeper meaning to your short sentence, but I don't see it.

Ha! It already IS!

What makes you all think being a printed book would be more informative, fact-filled and entertaining than the website?
Did anybody say it would be any of those? Your post has nothing to do with anything said in this thread.

From the original post...
The internet isn't going to last forever, just look at og and any other site you've seen shut down, and I feel that that website has a lot more to offer than most people give it credit...

I was kidding .

Man, my Mesculine story's got like 15k views, forgot about that website.

I want to mirror that site onto a harddrive, same as icmag, just wish I knew how to.

Clarification to Alaskan:

NO

It already is a book, an e-book.

If you want a copy, print it out on paper yourself.

Make a PDF of the site if you want to have your own digital copy.

Turning websites into books is complex. Just how much do you print, all hundred thousand plus pages? Best to leave it digital, it's the way of the future...unless they start making paper from renewable resources such as hemp.

Use wget:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wget
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm if you're stuck on Windows

Just read the manual 3 times first, to get the exact command syntax:
http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/manual/wget.html

Yeah, I know, RTFM posts suck, so this might be a start:

wget --convert-links --limit-rate=50k --random-wait -p -r http://www.erowid.org/ -o logfile

Be careful with the command, though -- it can really squeeze a server if you're on a high speed Internet connection...

Guilty as charged. I love cannabis, not so fond of the harder, more addictive drugs. A product of my upbringing and experiences. To each his own, though.

I don't know why you're trying to turn this into an argument, I just thought it would be neat to have all that information in a physical book.
I wasn't demanding that someone go and publish it all with a major label, just stating I thought it would be cool.

Yes I understand I could print it all out, but reams of plain paper in a binder is hardly 'a book'

How do people like you even become moderators in the first place? My only experiences with you are ones where you blow basic statements up into some sort of right vs. wrong argument.

Don't respond to that or anything else I said, it has nothing to do with this topic.

The topic is "It would be cool to have an actual on-the-shelf book with all the information/reports from erowid"
