In my short time in Boulder, I have to say that I have been so grossed out by the scene at large that it has effected me deeply. The falseness of a certain ideology and "scene" is realized in a perfect, grotesque way in Boulder. Having seen more of this country of late, I can resolutely say that I find living with and around the right(I lean left fairly strongly) in places like North Carolina far superior to Boulderites and their kind.
Watching beggars drink 3 dollar coffees. Porsche owners whom you can tell have never actually worked by their inability to articulate a complete sentence approaching me for weed(randomly). Strange, aloof pseudo-intellectual women with a disdain for men that can literally be felt just walking near them(I mean this sincerely. It's something you need to experience yourself to understand). I want to reiterate that I am not talking about mere introversion here. What really tips the scales for me is this notion of "ohh I'm just a laid back skier mannnn" persona that makes up so many of Boulder's residents. Please-it's the same social-climbers that run about in Orange County, subbing italian Jeans with Designer khaki shorts.
I'm very glad I experienced Boulder as a young man. It helped encapsulate some things I was unsure of politically and socially. I recommend visiting that place to other young people who might otherwise have a false sense of what certain segments of our sociopolitical climate are all about.
