If they are dry enough not to mold, they can go into the jars. A cardboard box will work instead of a bag.

just put the buds in the jar...what use would the paper be if the buds are dry to begin with...

Just because they're dry to the touch doesn't mean they are in fact dry. The bag, box, newspaper allows the interiors to dry without overdrying the exterior.

my point exactly...don't jar the buds til they are dry...put them into the jars and burp them daily for a few weeks...after a month the curing has begun and the smell dank...after the second month the smoke is far smoother and the taste soft and velvety...

you can put them into the mason jars if the stem will snap & break cleanly,
if your stems are soft enough that they just bend w/o snapping then you'll
still need some more drying time (paper bags) before the mason jars.......

before the mason jars.......

once again, the paper bag is before the jars...you don't place damp buds IN the jars...

agreed, I misread the post and thought the discussion was to put the newspaper or bag into the jar...I never have used a bag method so it didn't click...if the bag is needed to dry the bud then sure, not an issue...I have always used the slow air dry method and don't understand why you would use a bag though...again, if it works, then go with it

yeah man the bags are magic..ive went straight to jar thinking everything was good and mold on allmost every strain if memory serves..and also the bag method first when done right like makes it super good to man, full potential imo

I hang up to dry, then go to jars, but leave the lids off an hour or two a day till its actually dry. then i just go to little burps for the next month.

that's what I have done for the last 10 years but the general concensus of opinion seems to favor bags...

it's pretty hard to put this stuff in bags prior to jars so the air dry a little longer in the barn abd they go straight to jars...burping has always worked well...
