hygrozyme verus bleach?

Marshall

I run E&F tables with hydroton and have always used hygrozyme to deal with the leftover roots from previous grows. I pull the rootballs out, and what I can but dont go crazy. The hygrozyme seems to have done a good job in dealing with that.

But that stuff is expensive as hell. I was wondering if I should just switch to bleach to kill anything bad that comes from the decaying roots?

I am thinking about using hygrozyme in veg, and maybe the first couple weeks of flower to help root growth, then switch to bleach.

opinions?

the bleach will sterilize the dead root material but the dead plant material will still remain and could become a host to pythium etc once that bleach is gone.

there are a lot of enyzme products on the market, best bet would just be finding a cost effective alternative

$8.49 for a 64 oz bottle

http://www.homedepot.com/buy/cleani...ptic-system-and-cesspool-treatment-60790.html

Zep 64 oz. Septic System and Cesspool Treatment contains a biodegradable, non-toxic formula with concentrated natural enzymes that help dissolve organic material buildup in your septic tank and field lines. It can be used monthly as a preventive maintenance measure.

Nice find, do you have any experience with that stuff? from the description it seems like its exactly what you want.
