Good point, actually. I had initially raised it up higher on the day I bumped the ballast up to the full 1000 watts, because I was still being cautious, and didn't want to overheat the plants. The plan was to monitor the temps for the first 7 days and make sure things were good before lowering the reflector again. I was supposed to do that yesterday, and I forgot. Thank you for reminding me. I just went back in there and lowered it. It's now about 14 inches above the tallest growth tips in the middle.
I tried getting closer than that, but it seems to decrease the lighting footprint, so that there is less light around the perimeter of the garden. So I settled on 14 inches.
