Have you ever owned or grown with LED?
Yes.
Have you ever owned or grown with LED?
Yes.
By the way can you do a 8 x 4 rather than a 6 x 6
in my experience, watt for watt its the same.
hey captn' I've been researching LED grows for some time now, seen you over @ RIU, was about to bite the bullet on a few MARS II lights, as well as one of the reflector series for veg... what's your take on these?... they seem to have a decent following at 420mag site...
Cheers!
You must have used cheap inefficient LED's.
Thats funny. you should click around a bit before you spout off like that.

Shine on. 600 watts is 600 watts. equally hot. easier to control humidity with the LED's though.
As I said back on the first page, there really isn't that much difference between the two simply because there isn't that much difference in their efficiency at turning electricity into light. The best LEDs now are roughly 10% more efficient than HIDs, so how discernible is 60% vs 70% of the gross wattage being converted to heat? The electronic ballasts that I'm using on my HIDs are actually more efficient than the drivers for my LEDs, and the lights themselves put out just shy of 120 lumens/watt.
The manner in which the heat is manifested is substantially different though, and LEDs "feel" cooler. As I've mentioned before, they were actually more difficult for me to cool because the fixture airflow didn't lend itself to easily moving the heat out of the grow area.
Yes but with a quality LED and spectrum you can use at least 30% less wattage than HID to get around the same yield with better quality. Then add the 10% better efficiency and you have some serious power and cooling saving along with a better quality product.
well we bit the bullet and went with the onyx (4 x bloom) (1 x veg)....
