unsharp mask. It brings out the details, but if taken too far it enhances/highlights the imperfections in the picture too.

Went to far imho. Not sure if Picasso has layers & modes, but if it does plop pic #2 over pic one (Sized equally) & change the image layer modes around, sometimes you'll get the best of both worlds.
