hives on forearms from cherry kush

Happened last week while doing some defoliating,(been reading k33ftr33s thread). Has this happened to anyone else? Have been wearing long sleeves when I care for them now. This is my second run with this strain and didn't have this happen on the first run.

Any plant can do it. Every plant does it to me you just have to deal with it. DO NOT RUB YOUR EYES LOL :D I never have dry buds give me rashes but all fresh plants do and it itches like hell sometimes. Eventually you may build a sort of immunity to it like I have as when I first started growing it was 10x's worst. I would sneeze all day long and get hives whenever I touchedem. Now I just get miniature 'outbreaks' and sneezing fits only last 10-30 minutes instead of hours heh.

HAHAHA! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've grown out 3 other strains and this is the first time it has happened. Thanks for the reply 40!

Lol... Never heard of allergic reactions from touching plants. F'in cool!

I'm growing some Mandala Speed Queen right now. After I supercrop, my hands smell like someone took a dump on a bunch of lemons and left it in the sun. If I smell it I get an allergic reaction in my stomach -_-

I'm super allergic. Some strains more than other. When running my littles through the trimmer I felt like I was going to pass out from being unable to breathe. That was not fun.

I wear long sleeve shirts and try not to breathe when there is a ton of basically powdered kief in the air. The hives on my arms were out of control.

I am trying to build up my immunity though through the use of supplements.

Good post.

Good post.

Good thread seekinggreen. My ol lady and I were doing some trimming last night, and right away she got a few really itchy hives on her forarms. She has allergys that pop up every once in a while , but never hives. She is sure they came from the stalks rubbing on her arm while she worked. I gave her some cortizone cream and she says it helped the itching a little, but soon returned. She is gonna take benadryl and I post up how she is doing later. Ive been messing with this stuff so long it dont bother me at all.

Hope all of yall who got the itchy scratchys feel better soon:comfort:

I've been allergic forever...have to wash my hands every time I break up some herb....and thats just when smoking...

Rubber gloves and long sleeves are key whenever messing with plants for a long time or when processing. Never tried benadryl or anything.

I'm also allergic to certain weed plants and I don't have to touch them to get huge hives. As long as I'm in a house with plants that I'm allergic to, I get huge hives. For years no one could tell me what I was allergic too and the doctors would give me steroids to keep it in check. I finally went to a specialist and found out it was from weed. I thought I was going to die from this. My eyes were swollen shut, I had golf ball size bumps all over my head, my balls turned into one ball that was the size of a grapefruit and I couldn't wear pants, my throat started getting bumps and I could barely swallow, my feet had bumps all over the bottoms and I couldn't walk, my ears closed up with huge bumps. It was very scary and I've had this happen to me for years. I looked like an alien or a mutant with my whole body covered in huge bumps and they grow really fast. Once I see a little spot on my body, it take about an hour for it to grow into a golf ball. It's pretty crazy but once I found out it was from weed, I got rid of the strains that were affecting me which was Power Plant.

Noone's allergic to pot plants. Terpenes are a type of phytotoxin produced to protect the plant from being eaten etc, it's the terpenes that produce the reaction. Different terpenes affect different people in different ways, they also produce the smells flavours and to a large extent the subjective high of the weed.

You say tomatoe, I say tomato.

It's basically still an allergic reaction lol.

"allergies" work differently, they're an immune response. Skin inflamation from an irritant is much different. I'd suppose that Mr. Dyson Uniball probably had an allergic reaction, while most of us just get irritated skin from resin soaked fresh pot.

same here

I break out pretty bad when in contact with the ladies. Itchy red bumps on my arms which normally are gone within a few hours.

Sucks bad.

Left a bunch of hash material on the plants once and damn near thought my lungs were going to collapse after getting the dry material off the stalks.

yep, me too. in veg, in flower, during harvest. indoor ive started trimmin after the plants are fully dry, soma style. that actually helps alot.

it gets so bad during OD harvest that i cant continue after 2nd day. and then for about a week after i was pretty much miserable. so this year, motorized trimmer for me. instead of the 4 days it takes my girl and I the trimmer will do my 10-15 lbs in a day, with time to grill afterwards.

claritin D w the pseudoephedrene helps a bit.
