Hexane extraction

Short question,

I read Graywolf´s Tutorial on how to purge Hexane (mix with water & ethanol, wait until layers will stratisfy, pour the layers off).

Does this also apply 1:1 to pentane as well?

I suspect anything you can do with Hexane. You can do with Pentane as they are chemically almost the same.

Pentane is just more volatile. So be careful.

Pentane is water soluble at 40 mg/ L vs 9.5 mg/L for Hexane.
So layers will form with both hydrocarbons.

Yes! As noted Pentane is more volatile, but otherwise acts the same.
