hey guys bickey here. just wanted to log my grow and show everyone my simple setup.
right now ive been doing the perpetual thing and ive come to dislike it. So my plants that are flower will be my last perpetual, i will be switching to harvest every 60-70 days strain dependent. I also want to see if i will be harvesting more this way rather then perpetual. But i do like having a qp of new buds every 2 weeks which comes out to 1 pound every 60 days :shucks:.! i will be trying to double or triple this.
Right now im running some hydro and some soil, been loving the hydro cant wait to make a full switch, unfortunately for me i had to get some plants vegging and my budget will only allow me with soil, which isnt a bad thing i love soil, a little less work, but dirty.
so here my setup
1 small spare bedroom with closet for veg
flower:
1 1000watt hps
1 600 cfm fan for the air cooled hood
1 180 cfm fan for exhaust and intake for veg
Veg:
1 240cfm fan for exhaust out of veg room
1 600watt adjustable ballast
1 120watt cfl to get them going
and a window ac to keep temps between 68-78 in flower and 78-85 for veg

a little construction. new window place for the ac unit

To hit a reasonable yield of 2 pounds with a 1k light (which is a great yield) you will need 16 plants that yield 2 oz's dried each and I have done this a few times back in the day it's pretty easy actually. You will need reflective mylar all around the room to help shine potentially lost light back into the garden canopy to begin with. If you are growing in soil you are going to need 16 - 3 gallon containers with clones from the same mother plant in them, square ones if possible as they take up less room than round ones for better usage of space. Keep the plants as close together as possible and trim off any lower branches when flowering is initiated to allow them to focus all their growth on big heavy top colas instead of fluffy lower "B" grade buds below.

You also will need a CO2 tank and supplement the levels in the room during flowering to 1200 - 1500 ppm in order to get this kind of yield in most cases. The plants should be veg'd to at least 24" to 36" tall or so before flipping the lights to 12/12 and you are going to need a top cola dominant strain so they do not branch out too much and crowd the other plants because with just 1 light you do not have a ton of coverage.

I would suggest something like LUI13 from Dutchgrown if you are buying new seeds for this project of more yield. Other great strains like Bogglegum from BOG or Cindy 99 are big yielders too with shorter flowering times. If you could get Sweet Tooth #3 seeds that would be ideal.

You could also consider investing in a light mover on a track they are very easy to set-up and not too expensive and will increase your effective coverage area as well as allow each plant to fully develop better from increased coverage of light from all sides. Otherwise you can manually spin and rotate the plants every few days to ensure maximum light coverage on all plants equally and adjust the canopy as you see fit to ensure maximum yield for your legal medical purposes. :canabis:

wow sotf thats some great info! :tiphat:
ive seen people hit the 2 or 3 lb mark off of 1 light, and im not sure if they used co2, for me that is just an expense i cannot afford. i was thinking about trying to add another light instead of a mover, but power might be a issue.
also i will have 10 plant i will be flowering, they will be getting around 2 months veg and with be in 5gal bucket when they flower, do you think that is too big? im hoping to get about 4 to 5 oz a plant, and it funny you mention lui because i am tossed between dgs sweetest cindy and dgs lui13 :kos:

Ive seen people hit a pound per plant easy of sativas in dwc's with 2k's of hps grown in a shop were they had the height for the huge sativas to grow and flower correctly without getting chopped to soon due to room Issues so your goal is achievable but you should take sotf420's advice and Invest in some Mylar and 2 light mover's and add another 1k hps to get them plants as big and tall as possible and you can achieve this with no Issues.

Well my advice was based on using the lights he has but thanks ;)

Bickeyb, I would say either one of those strains are golden for you man, if you want more of a bush go for the Sweetest Cindy if you want more top cola dominant go LUI13. Or do what I do and just get both it makes it way easier! Good taste in strains my friend. :canabis:

bikeyb, way awesome man you are going to be covered in sticky sweet resin!

You should veg under a smaller light or get some T5's and use the 600 HPS for flower too then you can hit 2 lbs with your eyes closed. ;)

I really appreciate everyones info:tiphat:
and here we are 4 days later. everything is looking great !!
my hydro bucket is at 14 days into flower and they are ridiculously big! they only had a week veg and i have 2 sugloafs in the front that went in when they rooted, but the somangos in the buckets are getting out of control!.. also i found that the somangos like the ph from 5.9 to 6.3 i was keeping it at 5.3-5.6 and they were locking something out and turning yellow soo i let the ph rise the last day and they are starting to get green again :dance013:.
my somangos in dirt are at 28 days, sugarloafs are at 39 days, and my supgirls x grandaddy purple are at 25 days, but im going to guess they go around 110 or so days excep for one.
my plants in veg are 10 days old and looking great, i hooked the 600 watt up and turned it down to 300 watts

very peacefull

Indoor grows hydro section has a defoliation thread, I think it would help you.

ive read that thread, but it says that you shouldnt do it during flower if you didnt do it during veg. i guess i could give it a try

heres my 3 dif phenos of the sugar loaf :joint:

pheno 1, smell is kinda fuel skunk smell, kinda stickey nice yield more on the indica side,
slpheno1.jpg

pheno 2, super lemon pine smell similar to trainwreck, sativa dom, should yield nicely its gunna take a extra week or 2 to finish, nice frost and pretty stickey,
pheno2.jpg

pheno 3, same smell as number 1, low yield full of frost and super stickey! probably is gunna finish in 50-55 days, and is gunna be the more potent pheno

Grow vertical. As soon as you turn that light vertical and use a screen, you're yield is going to go waay up. Imo of course

Thanks man. I shoot for 18 inches. The furthest it gets is about 26 inches. With 1k I'd hang it straight down, surround the light 360 with plants vegged (vertically) to about 30 inches put a vertical screen in between the plant and the light and start weaving. once stretch is over cut anything that didn't make it through the screen off and let the show begin.

im not sure if i can veg vert because of width issues in my veg room but i was thinking of putting the 600 watt at the bottom and the 1000 watt right above it, you think i could fit 12-16 plants around that? i could do a shelf style like yours?
