I am at day 16 indoors of my first purchased genetics grow. Been growing outdoors with seeds from plants I started 40 years ago. Real old school genetics.
This is a seed run so the guys will get to do what guys do best.
I bought 10 Hashplant seeds all germinated and survived.
Received 5 Afghan free 2 germinated and survived.
My closet is 36"d X 48"w x 84"h
526w of CFL lights half 2600k half 1600k with room to expand to 910w.
Mix is 45% peat, 45% perlite and 10% worm castings.
Blood meal
Bone meal
green sand
Espoma Garden Tone
Garden lime
Using 3 gallon bags.
Veg nutrients.
Half strength for first week from seed. Full strength second week until second week of flower.
Fed every watering when weight of bags say they are ready.
Misted twice a week with kelp.
Seabird guano tea.
Liquid kelp
Silica Blast
Flower nutrients.
Sea bird guano replaced with Jamaican guano tea.
Neptunes Harvest Fish concentrate.
Liquid kelp

The two up front and left of the forth picture are the Afghan three days younger than the hash plant.
The Hashplant seems to love nutrients without burning or stretching.

Looks good. I notice the lights are way up and the plants are not stretching. I still keep my lights 2-3 inches from the plants and I'm running 1/2 the watts.

Lights up for photos and misting. I keep them about 6" so I have good air circulation over and between the lamps and plants.
 
Maybe its because I have used 5000k and 6500k for such a long time that I ask but I'm also curious, why did you choose cfl's in 2600k and 1600k? A bit far to one side of the spectrum, esp in Veg. You happen to know lumen output and cri of those bulbs?

You got me pulling up a chair, I am real curious to how this set up is going to flow.

Those lights produce more light coming out the sides than the ends. I have y splitter for my two cfls so they are kinda sideways to plants. Also have a clamp reflector. You might consider getting the lights more sideways to plants and some decent reflectors. Would almost double the light output if it didn't do more than 2x.
You can get those lights closer too, they have about 4-6 inches range, at 1-2 inches away you are getting a lot more intensity. I will likely go with plls to go with my LED light, as they are more efficient than the cfls.

Since I am mainly looking for seeds to add new blood to my 40 year old genetics I'm not concerned about tight buds. I will flower in the same closet and use the same lights.
Spring is here and time to shut the 1000w hps down. I will bump the lights to 910w when I flower. I find the dual spectrum does a nice even grow and when I switch to flower they bud right up. I had to start flowering in the same closet because of space issues in the flower room once. Got them under 1000w hps at week 4 of flower and it took a week before the plants got used to the hps and continued to bud. Dual spectrum HIDs are being used a lot now.
The lamp sockets are attached to a framed piece of plywood painted flat white so I essentially raise and lower the ceiling. I understand the whole horizontal vertical deal with lights because I have only used parabolics in the past. I don't think I will have to raise the lights over 48" in this grow and I should get the penetration that I need. Thanks

Ive got 12 42 watt CFLs over my single tree canopy and i generally keep the lights no more than 1/16th of an inch away from the nearest leaf. Ive noticed a significant difference in growth rate and reduction in stretch when you keep them that close. Even at 1" away, the intensity of the CFL light is significantly less than at 1/16th of an inch. Have you thought of sacrificing some air flow to keep the lights closer? I feel like at 6" the CFLs will cause some serious stretch later on but I don't know, I am pretty new at this. Also if you buy y-socket adapters for the same number of lights you can significantly reduce the amount of heat radiated onto the plants since the bulb will be angled so the tip (hottest part) of the bulb is angled away from the plants. Ive noticed a bulb positioned sideways dissipates heat upwards(away from the plants) much more efficiently. Sorry in advance if I've been rambling, too high to tell right now.
