Has anybody flown with MMJ in checked luggage?

I remember some time ago that they were talking how it was allowed for medical marijuana patients to fly with their medicinal cannabis in their checked luggage.

So im curious, has anyone actually done this yet?

Being that TSA is federal and everything having to do with airports is normally federal, I just have a hard time believing you wouldn't be arrested for transporting an illegal substance...

I have, but it was like 1973, had an oune of weed and an ounce of hash in a shotgun magazine,checked through with my luggage. I don't think you can do this now. To much security.IMHO.

You'd be best contacting the airport from a different phone or something to find out the real answer bro. I know of plenty of people that have kept shit on their nuts the whole plane ride and had no problems, but as far as doing it legally ya got me.

On cannabis common sense once they were talking about this and the host said that he flies all the time with medicine. I think he said that he checks it in his luggage with a copy of his paperwork with it and never had a problem. He was talking about flying from one medical state to another and I believe he also said he has permits for multiple states. Not sure i'd try it though.

I'm a patient and I just won't do it. I plan on taking a small amount of bubble hash to Florida this fall, but I'll be putting it in my pussy pocket for sure....pardon my language.

I honestly think checked luggage is safer than on your person, I like the idea of including paperwork in luggage, but I honestly haven't heard anywhere that this is cool. Wasn't there something a while back about the airport in Oakland being cool with California to California flights?

you can fly outta SFO with up to 8ounces of MMJ...you gotta have your card though. my boy flew to hawaii with 2 ounces for his vacation, he just had to declare and show them his paperwork..

I have a few times (but not intentionally) and have never had a problem, but it has been a VERY small amount (less than 3.5 g) since it was just what I happened to have in a checked coat or pant pocket at that time.

I would call your local airport and talk to them about the laws and reg's for this type of thing. I can tell you that here in Denver the airport has been VERY clear about declaring the airport as "federal property" and therefore your state paperwork won't protect you or your medicine from arrest or seizure. You have to remember TSA aren't STATE employees - they are considered Federal Law Enforcement.

get a smell proof bag, check it, and put your ID with it.

don't declare shit to anyone. you don't have to and if anything it will cause you problems.

also to the poster hiding hash in yer Vag, flying to Florida with Hash is much worse than florida. also, Miami International is the only place i've been to where it's like Miami Vice with drug dogs everywhere. that was also a long time ago.

anyways, hash they will treat you like you had heroin if caught. herb with a med rec....they are going to look really dumb busting you, then next week when Habib walkes through with a stick of dynamite up his ass or in his turban, and they don't get it, they will look even worse.

Good question BigHerb for CO patients,, have heard good things for CA patients outta SFO, but out of DIA...another question. Does it have to be to another MMJ Friendly State?

i would call the feds about it and let them know what it is going on, meaning what your intentions are, and then call the airports to see what the rules are, since they are the ones that are going to be warranted to "raise the red flag", would be in your situation. reason being, (IMO) what they look for is the criminal type activity pertaining to cannabis in order to vilify it. by you "sneaking" it anywhere, would be obvious that there was some manner of illegal intent.

but if you were to legally travel with it, since your up to code (you've the proper cards and even doctors note, which you need anyway to get the script) and following standards as a patient then, although we all know they're cocks and they will try, there would be no real reason to try and stop/hassle you for some manner of seemingly illegal activity, when there is none. i would just walk with all if not my most important documents to be safe

i would also travel with dosed amounts, maybe roll them up in proper amounts, walk with a vaporizer, or even travel with it in the container that it came in from the dispensary

i think that if we want it legalized in anyway for any reason that the community has to act/behave responsibly specifically MMJ patients. the politics of it all seem to be wearing thin, so IMO i dont think anyone should act out of order.

there are some of us that still have to "fly under the radar" but those that dont have to shouldnt, and the so called "powers that be" should be held accountable for what they know they know is permissible under regulations.

most ive ever done was travel with 3g on my person and some seeds, didnt put it in anything just walked with it in my pocket, theres nothing like nice tight nugs!! lol i could've sat on the flight the whole time and not have to move it, but i ended up saving the wrapper form my meal/snack and put it in that. there are lots of ways to travel with it, you just really have to be creative and think on your feet. to me damned near every/anything can become a container.

I just got off a flight....I had my checked on bag searched on both flights, to and from where I was going. I open my luggage at the hotel to disheveled belongings and a card that says my bag was subject to a random security search. That's why I would rather go with out a little herb than risk that shit.
