Growing Organics living soil, Sativa/Narrow leaf dominant pheno selection, phenotypic expression.

Hi everyone,

We like start of with a couple of pictures of what’s growing at the moment, as we dive further in depth with this journal we will be discussing the why and how to; of everything we are sharing. Our position is key (49th parallel) as we do most of our work outdoors, and with organics principals.

First pheno of interest this year 2023 is this F1 cross of a Dutch Durban Poison (from regular seed mom was indica looking pheno with a fast flowering time and revealing sex early on in July). It was cloned and later these clones where sent outdoors in the bush to be open pollinated by the vigours yet long flowering but early to reveal sexual expression as true male we have called Duterte’s Nightmare (a filipino presumed landrace coming from the northern jungles of Luzon in the areas between Baguio and Sagada, the exact location is unknown); seeds recovered by us in person back in 2019 and first grown from seed on 2022 this male showed excellent side branching vigour and the structure exhibited in flower is very unique and distinctive.

Our second pheno of interest is the F1 cross of Duterte’s Nightmare male with our 2015 F1 cross we will just name PSF1 for the purpose of this journal, we will also look at the background of this PSF1 female.

Dutch Durban Poison x Dutertes male we will refer to as DDPxDN F1
Personal Sativa F1 x Dutertes male we will refer to as PSF1xDN F1
Duterte’s Nightmare reg we will refer to as DN
here we go;

Veg time before the sex reveal, this pheno remains in that same pot for the rest of the lifespan.

This is what one of our breeding environments looked like, we believe that true phenotypic expression can be achieved in true outdoors conditions, despite our male limited to a 5 gal pot all our females clones were put in ground in the harsh conditions of the 49th parallel soil, all phenos exposed to the conditions all the way until mid November 2022.

Our F1s today show a lot of the father pheno expression; this time around we have not yet found a male donor but have a couple of possible candidates at the moment, we have several phenos running at different environments, 2 potential males are Malawi/Purple haze by ACE and Honduras by ACE, also the possibility of a second DN male is open as we have one pheno going as well. 2 phenos from DDPxDN F1 and 2 from PSF1xDN F1, 1 Super Lemon Haze (indica pheno broad leaf skunk lemon stem rub) and 3 new clones of this SLH and 1 Pink kush pheno. All phenos have different environments and nutrition schedules. Our feeding programs consist only of plant based water extracted nutrients. We do not use synthetic or salt based feeds. We chose to be as organic as possible because we do think heavy doses of nutrient have an overall effect on phenotypic expression. We like to keep our human intervention to a minimalist stance.

The things we look to achieve and test are pest resistance and wet/cold tolerance, flower times, ripening times, vegetative and flower structures, quality of cell wall tissues, organoleptic properties as whole.

This is our current DN pheno, started from original seed in the ground at a more isolated and exposed environment.
This pheno has had a great veg period exhibited abundant side branching and continued vigorous growth, excellent cell walls plasticity. Showed incredible resistance to drought as no rain fall around the area for weeks.

These phenos are in a more hostil environment. We are looking for a fast flowering trait, the season for flower will only last 12 weeks around here, only strong genetics can withstand the wet and cold weather in November.
Any pheno of interest will be cloned to later propagate.

For those of you Malawi/Purple Haze by Ace experts I have a good question for you all;

This is our Malawi/PH pheno and it is a great looking pheno, we are expecting a Male; that is our assumption after looking at our previously grown Malawi/PH females. Just wanted to put it out there to see if anyone picks up a Male trait from this pheno;

Incredible side branching, very clean structure, very vigorous, robust stem, dark green color. We hoping to add this to our house genetics to further enhance our linage, keeping it mostly if not, pure Sativa.

Vigorous pheno, taking the time to express all the little details, it’s exciting to follow the process.
As the natural photoperiod keeps them with the finger on the trigger for flowering; at the moment we are at 14:24 hrs of sunlight by the end of August out here on the 49th parallel the daylight will be of 13:30hrs. That’s one hour less by the end of the month, we expect a rapid transition from vegetative/preflower and start the long flower. We have prepared a finishing space with lights and extra heating for the late November/December results.

We are looking forward to adding some more of those African roots back into this “Dutch Durban Poison” linage, this F1 cross is showing a predominantly Sativa line all thru veg and preflower.
Our greatest match would be our current Malawi/Purple haze by Ace seeds. Really putting that extra African punch.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you will succeed, there just aren't enough hours of light where you grow to get any photosensitive strain to mature properly in September and October. I live at 43ºN in an Atlantic coastal weather and I've been growing for ages.

Where you live, only an indoor setup would get you a nice weed. If you still want to grow outdoors, you could try to set some auto seeds to mature in the middle of the summer, and to harvest them at the first days of september. That should work.

Good luck

Thanks for the luck, this are 2022 photos, harvest and flowers at end of October. Made the seeds last year, which I am running this year.
Our DDPXDN and PSF1XDN F1s this year should be around same. We estimate a finishing of end of November… and yes we have lights and a greenhouse to finish properly.

We aren’t growing just for flower, we are breeding outdoors.

Stay around and we will show you how they flower this year.
