Babies didn't miss a beat after topping the other day.

I think I better flip in the next day or two, or else I'll end up with the sequel of Day of the Triffids!

Plant #2 in the back right is my favorite. Squat, branchy as hell and so many heads it's tying itself into a knot like a cabbage. I removed two large fan leaves that were shading the growth, tucked what else I could. If this is a female (which I do suspect) I'll likely use this one as the mother and LST the hell out of it's clones.

Plant #1 in the back left obviously wants to be a tree. I like bushes, I don't like trees.

Plant #3 in the front, poor thing is still lagging behind. It just doesn't appear to have any vigor. I'll keep it until it's sexed, but I'll likely cull it if/when the tent starts to become overgrown.

Plant #2: Root porn!

Notice that there are no cord roots, it's all feeder roots coming directly out of the netpot. Kudos again to Heath Robinson's amazing grows for showing me the light in that regard.

DAMN!!! Beautiful, I have never tried DWC but seeing root systems like that is a no brainer! Thanks for all the support. Nice to see someone growing these indoors. I have some friends in Sacramento that are running them outside this year.

I'll be here till the end of the show, good luck, you are already doing great!

OKD

Sorry to be such a noob, Yigtchelpleth, but could you elaborate a bit upon your DWC system? I have been wanting to try DWC but it seems too simple! One of my big questions is water level in the bucket, which you explained nicely. I guess my big question is how often do you change the reservoir? And will I need a PPM meter or such?
Good work, nice style!

Nice skills Yig... Just bought a pack of Bay 11 and I hope I get the tree looking one you have in the back left. K+

Unfortunately the tree was the likely male and I culled it; of course after I took a clone.

I do find it strage that with a pack of 80% sativa, 2/3rds of the plants exhibit heavy indica dominance. Some of the bay-11 threads I've read indicate they will express sativa in flower.

Indica growth with sativa high? I'd be a happy camper.

5 gal bucket, air pump, air stone. It is simple.

I change the res according to original Lucas method. When the plants drink, I add water to top off the bucket. After I've added back the original amount of water, I then change the bucket with fresh nutes.

No real need for a ppm meter. I can gauge it using how much they drink and the ph as a proxy. PH is stable, starting out around 5.5 and drifting up to 6ish by the time I change the bucket.

Yeah DWC is the only way to go. Dirt plants at 1 month look like DWC plants at two weeks!

so you do not use any sort of supplements besides general lucas formula?

No supplements.

I've always ran the two part Lucas, this is the first time with FloraNova Bloom. I use tap water instead of RO, which might have aided me in avoiding cal-mag deficiencies over the years.

I've never needed to fix what ain't broke, and marketing of questionable snake oil chemicals doesn't interest me. Especially when some of them are known carcinogens.

I agree DWC is the ONLY way. I do however like to keep moms in dirt for simplicity and because I do not need high productivity moms currently.

hey I used to only use lucas and I want to just share my 2 cents w/ ya as a fellow dwc .. just my observations based off my experiences...

I began using dutchmaster zone for root protection.. best single supplement ever. contains monochloramine and even though your roots are looking KILLER its like liquid insurance ya know? our root zone in dwc is just so sensitive it can go from bangin to root rot so quick..

do you have any issues with colas leaning? I use silica (dutchmaster since I liked their zone) and it definitely firms up the stalks noticably.

just some thoughts for the back of your mind if you need either issue addressed in the future...good luck n keep us up to date on these bay dreams =)

I'm proficient at hydro, but things tend to die when I put them in dirt.

What I do is clone a plant at the very beginning of flower, a week or two in. I keep that around in a small bubbler under a 23w cfl until it's needed for the next run.

I'd love to keep a bonsai mom, but my brown thumb curse gets in the way.

There stands a good chance that monochloramine is present in your tap water. It's what people say to let evaporate by leaving your container open for 24hrs. Never bothered doing that myself.

I've never experienced root rot. 3.5 - 4gal of water is quite easy to keep perfectly aerated. Big enough a res that ph swings are relatively slow, small enough that nothing sinister has time to establish itself before a res change.

No but I would have the opposite issue. With small scrogs in small spaces, buds would elbow their neighbors competing for space.

If I do end up with a 'cola leaning' problem, myself I will call that a success and not a problem!
