Freaking out

Greetings all. Long time grower with experience with almost a hundred strains including some things I’ve made myself, which is what I’m working with now. It’s a cross between the original cut of GG#4 (female) and Purple Punch (male) (seed). I also back crossed it a couple years back, and have been pheno hunting. This latest run is showing some trichome development that I’ve never seen. I don’t have a great scope, so the pics are only 100-250x mag. It can’t be environmental contamination, as it’s being grown at multiple locations by others, and seeing the same thing. Every leaf sampled has some. Anyone ever see anything like this before? I can’t sleep.

No bud it didn't, or not that I noticed anyway.
It was just chance I found that unusual trich.

No bud, nothing unusual about the plant itself.
I'd bought a digital camera thingy for my microscope, j was just looking at trichs and spotted that one.

Some other interesting stuff, I can't upload video but this is a gify from video I shot in a drop of run off.

Coco and mineral salts 3x daily + 5ppm of chlorine with every feed, coco is far from sterile.

I've also tested brand new, brick coco that was hydrated and left in a bag, it doesn't have the variety of used coco but there's plenty of life in it.

I can't find a guide to identify creatures that small but I'm pretty sure the bulk of the life in new coco are nematodes?

A few others, transpiration live lol.

They appear to spend their life spinning around in circles.

Love the pics! I’ve been looking at better microscopes as well. I’m a coco guy too, and I’m not surprised to see some activity, but out of the compressed brick is impressive. Nature endures, as they say. I read somewhere that you could sterilize a hydro system, run UV-sterilized water over clean roots from a clone grown in the same environment, and you’ll find living creatures in the water after 1 cycle. Anyhow, thanks much for the warm welcome here and the info. I’m still searching for the weird trich’s, and I’ll keep everyone posted.

Looks like the trichomes are indulging in light petting (kissing) - maybe if you watch them long enough - you might get to see some TRICHPORN! - lol

i agree about the hair, and there are cats in the general vicinity, but I’ve taken samples & pics under magnification of all hair types that are possible suspects. Not even close to the same development. I’m sure I’m starting to sound like a lunatic. But those filaments seem to be growing out of trich heads, sometimes connecting multiple trich’s, sometimes not making connection and sort of coiling up.
