From seed I'd give em a solid month in those pots, tho your mileage may vary.

As for showing sex at the end of that month? It will depend on the plant,.... I've had some that start to AUTOFLOWER if they get a little root bound, even tho they aren't Autos!!!

Good luck brother! :tiphat:

You can do it in those. You'll be pushing it but doable.

Expect massive growth once you transplant out of those.

I have learned with coco that you can put just about any size plant in any size pot.Thing with the coco is that the roots grow like mad which in return creates massive growth once they get in a new pot with some leg room for the roots to continue growing.Above ground growth just goes bonkers.

I made the mistake of vegging for 7 days in some 5x5 pots for my next run. They went into 12/12 at 5-6 inch plants and are now averaging 18-20.This didn't happen when i went straight to flower without the 7 day veg.

I agree with the above posters, but I do think that those 4" pots will be falling over before you're actually ready to transplant.

Ah! Ok, rereading your post... I start my seeds in beer cups, and they don't get transplanted until they sex. I only do this in soil, I've never started seeds in coir, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Crossed my mind to SM but she is gonna have to keep them things soaked as is so she may just be fine.........if not a simple stone on top will work.Maybe a big chunk of kryptonite.:)

How are you watering sweetsin? If you're hand watering those pots are gonna keep ya busy.

FlaD, let me see if I have pix of how I do my seed starts. They go into a tray, and I water the tray, not the individual pots. Capillary action keeps them perfectly moist.
thats the exact info i was looking for seamaiden,so for you,in beercups, you do fine?especially considering its soil, not coco.how long does it take for them to show sex?what light do you veg with?iv always used 16oz beercups, this time ill use these pots,to try to be more eco friendly lol, styrofoam sucks lol

and am i good to go,vegging under t5 for 3 weeks,then under a 400watter hps for 1-2 more weeks.ill start with the t5 24/0

once i move them under the hps ill go 18/6,to try to get them ready for flowering.is that a good idea?

Indoors I'm cheap, so I use fluoros. But when I'm getting ready for OD they start out under the Big Metal Halide in the Sky.

As for showing sex, it's not necessarily a linear time thing, as that can be dependent on a few factors that affect growth rates. Usually, again OD, if I pop in March they'll be sexed by May, but I'm just looking for when the nodes begin to alternate so I catch the boys.

Anyway, I don't use a 24/0 photoperiod, again it costs money and I'm seriously fucking CHEAP. I use a staggered or interrupted photoperiod that's matched to the day I want to put them out. If you're never putting them out, then I would use an 18/6 photoperiod, in part for being cheap and in part because it seems more natural and I've never seen really good evidence that using several more hours of light per day really makes a huge difference in growth or yield. Also, going from a 24/0 photoperiod to an 18/6 *is* enough to trigger flowering, IME, so again I think it's better to just have them on your planned vegging photoperiod.

Red works best! Red is for winners. :D
Red solo cup........I fill you up.....Let`s have a party....let`s have a party.......

A pot party that is........Love my SM....ya`l take heed when she posts and take it to the bank......She`s done her homework and on the job trainin.....believe that......cuz......Winnin rules and all else drools........but......

After runnin 50/50 verm/perl mix in red beer cups for many many yrs , I got turned onto clear solo cups in coco mix that revealed the sturdiest and more developed rootmasses for a faster move to under the T-5`s fer pre-veggin , and onto the flip rooms under the big lights that improved pick of the litter cut selection as well as improved rotations in a production environment on a yearly basis ftw........anyways.....

Good luck and ...

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

Always gonna be slackers and slow starters......Looks like for the most part they`re doin well though , so let em dry out enough between feeds to establish a stronger lateral rootmass so they can take off once they`re up-potted/transplanted.....

Good luck.......DHF......:ying:.......

I use those same round pots. I have found they reach critical root mass at around 2 weeks, but you can keep them in those pots for weeks longer. The only thing you will notice is the explosive growth slows, plants dry out faster and I sometimes start to see problems the longer I keep them in those little pots. I suggest vegging for less time.
