Edmonton Alberta Grow

First outdoor grow in this province, so far I've faced every possible challenge possible lol. Growing conditions at these latitudes 53° are very different then what I'm used to at latitude 42°. But still going strong and about a month behind then back home, I'm thinking these 4 girls should all be finished up around 1st week of November
Couple side by sides to show the amazing growth 2 months under the sun can do.

Substrate used in the 55 gallon drums coco/perlite roughly 70/30
I set it up to an automated watering/feeding system which goes of 4 times a day.

The greenhouse build begins.
The gh itself is 20*10* 8 high. Figured I better build a 48" pony wall and have the gh sitting over to of it. Giving me a 12' high ceiling.

Moving Day
When I drilled all those holes in the barrels, making them smart pots. I also added 4 bigger 1" holes around the top so I could push a conduit through to use as a carry handle in order to be able to move the girls around as I please

Great job ,TheForSaken, Are they about finished ?
Did you have to add heat at all?

Peace GG

Thank you GG
Yes I definitely had to add heat. Space heaters at first but they did absolutely nothing except trip breakers. So I ended up adding a wood burning stove inside the gh.
We've hit -10 night temps outside and with the stove going I have no problems keeping the inside temps around 18 or so. Humidity levels stay below 50% as well

Impressive work on display here and a nice set of photos to go along with it. I'm still not used to people being able to show their faces in plant pictures.

For some reason this forum just doesn't do embedded video links, that's just how it is i guess.

Wonderful photo essay, looks like you had a nice summer & sounds like you know what you're doing with respect to protecting your plants from the early winter. I don't think I've seen entertainment like this coming out of Edmonton since SCTV & Gretzky left town in the 1980s. Does the wood burning stove in the GH vent outside or is the exhaust doubling as a source of CO2?

Haha thank you PDX
Yes the fireplace is vented out of the gh via chimney

Way to adapt to the shitty weather we have up here. May I suggest upgrading to cement board instead of drywall next year, much safer.
Any problems with neighbors or city bylaw enforcement? What about problems from lights at night, streetlights or yard lights??

What strain are you running?

Looks like your going to have a strong harvest.

Peace GG

Next year will be using concrete board but so far this 5/8th fire rated drywall holding up nicely.
Out of all my years growing outdoors, I've never had an issue with street lights. I don't turn on my backyard spotlight, ever. Unless 1 of my trip alarms gets tripped.
Even with the fire being only a couple feet away from the plants, I have not encountered any hermi issues.
Only 2 of the 4 strains I would ever grow again outdoors. LA Chocolat becomes a huge huge tree real early on. Unfortunately her and the C99 are real prone to botrytis. C99 by far the worst outdoor plant I've ever attempted. Today I had to take her down because I just couldn't keep the botrytis under control. Her trichs were all just cloudy no amber.
The ice-cream and Lemon Kush are real nice structured plants, real bushy with nice thick branching that support itself. Both great yielders.
But reading over your post over the years I've recently purchased some Mighty Mite and Leb27 both from Denmark where they've been finishing up there mid September at latitude 55°
Im only gonna be fuckin with semi autos for outdoors from here on out at latitude 53°
