Some gorgeous Norcal-grown Dream Queen I’ve been enjoying for a week or so. The aroma is a deep grapefruit-fuel reek that rushes out of the jar and curls the nosehairs under its raw power. Ground up, the nasty, fuel-ish undertone overwhelms the citrus-sweet, making for an expansive, musty smoke with just a hit of the nasally-dominant grapefruit zest.
The effect is definitely on the relaxing side, but still very cerebral and clear-headed. It’s a bit of a dangerous combination; the relative absence of a sensory “haze” allows a good deal of room for the illusion that the mind has been unaltered by the dense and pungent smoke. Only when one suddenly ends up in a situation where it’s necessary to go somewhere, to do or say something specific and precise does the realization also come that you’re completely elsewhere and have been for some time. It’s a smoke for the flaneur, the wanderer and improvisor.
