Everytime I come to icmag malicious software is loaded onto my computer...and everytime I leave I have to scan for and remove these unwanted bugs from my system. For a little over two weeks now this has happened everytime I log onto ICM. It's making my computer ssslllooowww...

If anyone knows what the f*#% is going on I would like to hear about it. :hide:

I can remove the adware crap and come back here one time and it's back. If I remove it and go to other sites no problem. I've spent some time investigating this and I wouldn't have started the thread if I wasn't sure where the adware is coming from here.

Specifically what adware? What are you using to detect and remove it? It's clearly not a universal problem, there must be additional factors involved.

What browser and version are you using and are you running any tool bars in the browser? Some tool bars connect to sites and ad adware crap to your system. Listing specifically what it is being loaded onto your system would help also. I have never had an issue with IC.

I'm using superantispyware to remove it. I'm also gonna add malwarebytes. Is that any better?? SAS lists it as adware tracking cookies. I know you get tracking cookies when you go to any site, but whatever this is makes my system really ssslllloooowwww....

Lemme try a few things and I'll post the results. I didn't really think it was the site because if it was chances are you'd see a big decline in users...just needed outside opinions...I'm better in the garden than on the computer :D I'll post results...

Tracking cookies are NOT always adware or malware.

In this case the cookie is being used because this site requires authentication. It is how the system knows that you are logged in.
If you delete it then you will have to log back in.

I don't know whether malwarebytes is better, I only know that many people I know recommend it.

Hmmm.... This is the list of cookies I get when visiting ICMag:
picture.php

No third-party cookies, no adware cookies, nothing unexpected.

I run AdBlockPlus in Firefox which routinely blocks such things, but even checking that doesn't show anything unusual being flagged or blocked, certainly nothing that explains why you are having this issue.

FWIW, tracking cookies by themselves should not slow down your computer. They are essentially very small text files, and aren't processor or network intensive by themselves. There might be more going on than is apparent in your case.

I'd be very interested to know more about the specific tracking cookies being detected, as well as more about the browser you are using. It may be that you are getting a "false positive", which shouldn't be cause for concern.

The only issue I have using https in browser is that I log in and it says welcome blah blah but then when the page loads I am not logged in and have to do it over again and usually works the second time it's like it's not processing the login or something. Would not worry about those cookies either, they go great with milk :)

Alright things seem better at the moment...but I'm gonna give it a few days...
I removed the google toolbar, and that seemed to help, but I did a couple other things too so maybe it wasn't just the toobar.

Thanks to all the friendly folks for your help :D

you might have malware that is installed at the root. So you remove it reboot and it's back again.

You might consider creating a User Profile in windows and use it strictly for web use and downloads. This way even after you have downloaded from this profile you can install it on another profile that is free of all the webs vicious little presents that you obviously have.

Good Luck
