From something heard on the radio....

Fourth of July, the USA celebrates our "freedom" and honors those that fought for our "freedom" by firing off an amazing amount of loud fireworks, which bothers the PTSD of those very veterans whom we are "honoring" by being really loud, obnoxious jerks. And it makes their service animals jumpy, too.

I kept seeing & hearing "God bless America, and support Her local sponsors"... shop because it is patriotic, right?

Yeah, that's what wrong, right there, with the whole world. It's all about the money, the corporate sponsor, and keeping that 1% in fucking control. It isn't just America, we're just the asshole of the world.
How about the USA starts actually blessing the rest of the world? "Love your neighbor" doesn't generally mean killing them.

I hear you brother...but just an observation...as a war vet myself...I am proud of the fireworks/ God Bless America shit that you are pissing on.

Just a simple thing to show your disdain and make a difference the corporate world they will really feel...go off the grid and don't go to fireworks shows. Pretty simple huh?

I don't know who the radio personality was that you were listening to but the 4th has nothing to do with honoring those who put their lives on the line to defend our country. There are two other holidays for those that survived we have Veterans Day and for those that were less fortunate we have Memorial Day. They may be right about the 4th bothering some of our wounded warriors suffering from PTSD but I bet if you asked those suffering Warriors if we should stop celebrating the 4th with Fireworks they would say "Hell no!"

As for what the day celebrates should be obvious by the Holiday's rightful name "Independence Day" It's the day we broke free from the Tyranny of British rule. The fireworks are meant to symbolize the battles we fought against the British to get there. To a lesser extent they symbolize the events that inspired our National Anthem "and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there" even though that event happened 38 years later then when we declared independence.

With the world cup final in under an hour. Being that soccer/football is the world's sport. With millions or billions of minds focused on one thing, will there be some sort of global unifying energy in the air?

I don't even have the vocabulary to ask this question. Rarely is so many humans focused on the same thing, the same place, at the same time. How will that effect Earth?

Tomorrow my sweet wife and I are going over to the coast for "The World's Largest Salmon BBQ".

Ok, Totally down with bbq wild pacific salmon right.

It is a fund raising event for "Salmon Restoration Association".

Just broiled me some wild caught salmon with some sea salt, lemon & garlic. Put it at 425 for maybe a half hour or so total (flipped it once) w/baked potatoes. Used organic/natural coconut oil non stick spray along with some high quality high temp organic refined sunflower oil. Can't be beat!

The good old USA already has it's slow moving summer afternoon sport. Please no soccer, please. My son played a year so I've seen the game and used to know the rules. Much, much more boring than baseball by a longshot. My Son was embarrassed to have to play that sport. We missed b-ball signups.
