How come everyone seems to be wanting to make crosses, instead of improving the current strains...?

earlier in the thread i spoke about a few crosses of my Oz bush males with oz collected clones. Ive finally got them in the flower room as you can see (if you hit the link) there quite uniform although on the left we have white rhino x bushM3 + on the rhight Bigbud x Bushm3.

2009, the year of the sativa...Leb27 will be crossed to DeepCongo, NepJam and Bangi haze...maybe some other girls will make it to the love fest outdoors in my plastic house. This is all with a view to harness the early flowering trigger the Danish acclimatized Lebanon strain holds, to hopefully carry a sativa high and producing plant harvested that can be before the winter in the uk and northern climates, shouldnt be that hard to select the potent early ones...

sounds interesting bean, im all for the Sativas my fav altime smoke bigbud is a hybrid with good sativa stone where i live outdoor plants get big fast often flower slow and can take between 10 - 16+ weeks with a range of weak to exelent harvest.

The trait you want from Leb27 i think i may have accdintly achieved with my first cross.
the clones i use for bud are fine but i thought mixing in Male from a collection of males would be wise lose of mums/ just more variation and curiosity.

it would seem the males used are slow vegging but faster flowering specially M3 the xM im playing with now, first test plant grown indoors and Fin out was harvested at 6 weeks and smoked well but not fully mature, both clones need a good 10 weeks so i may have shortened the flowering period a tad.

but is the stone still there?..


Hey bean how do you pic your early potent ones? weekly samples by eye just interested in a month ill be at that stage being so uniform i need some sort of system.

I think it will prove very interesting, given the genetics.

Congrats on getting what you want from your first cross, its sounds like you had fun......i certainly hope the stone is still there, for sure it will be in there somwhere...

My selection process is basic, a good plant is a good plant, and the smoke gets tested untill its gone..this leb project will be over years grown outdoors, the seeds picked from the best buds will be used outdoors the following year(hopefully in lots of different gardens)...but even if the female the seeds were from wasnt that good, the seeds could produce somthing better, so its all down to growing the seeds out and getting a feel for the plants and working with other growers and seeing what they get, and what they have to say about the smoke......Happy seed making

Besides numerous other crosses...I have three or four seeds I am dying to pop...My keeper CK (DJ) accidentally mixed with my keeper Red eyed bride (LGD)...two more weeks and I can pop those babies...this is one accident I can not wait to c.

so i got the best lifesave plant ever. its a crazy one, i just crossed it with a great lifesaver male and did the same with sour bubble. But i was thinking about taking a sour bubble female and lifesaver male. also i have a cheese i will cross with a strawberry cough. myabe do the cheese and sour bubble? sour cheese, eww? Otherwise I have speed queen and sweet tooth females i could cross as well. But the only males i've kept were the strawberry cough, lifesaver, and sour bubble.

check out bosshoggin on page 40-i agree
preserve the true breeding stock thats current and if any thing landrace genes for the best hybrids.
my goal is to create 1 strain at a time from the best quality of genetics and the most possible plants.3rd coast genetics will not over look strains that have held their own for the past 10 years plus and strain hunting which will be documented for proof.
iam not knocking any one i wanna cross everything but as a person who hopes to become a legit breeder my path is different-great crosses from everyone seen some i thought about

I just chopped my first PlanB x Flo lady, and she had was fun-speedy, spear shaped, purpling, and S T R E T C H E D somethin serious. 60% cloudy trichs and the amber was spreading fast...chopped at 63 days.
My BG x Flo has the craziest sweet smell ever. I wanna say orange candy, but I have smoked a lot today...
