I'll agree with his statement "I am completely against legalizing it for everyone."
Who really thinks it is a good idea for children to be toking?
However, adults should be able to decide these kinds of things for themselves.

I don't think anyone is suggesting allowing children access to weed.
He was probably saying that he doesn't want weed legal for adults to consume recreationally and it not being legal for children was implied.
I also think he made that statement to appeal to more people's sympathy.
Every person I have ever met that uses marijuana for legitimate medical reasons pretty quickly wants it legal for adults.
