I originally set up my 10x10x8 room, running three 1kw HPS and two 600w HPS (4200w total)...in your standard intake/exhaust setup. I modeled it on a friends setup, he has 2 5kw rooms and he is somehow able to keep his temps stable and good air movement without any AC.
Well the grass is always greener on the other side, and for some reason my rooms temps creep into the 85-90 range even when im only running 3 lights. (it might be the santa fe duey creating that heat but who knows)..i want to add an AC but in an intake/exhaust setup its pretty much useless, all the cold air created will get sucked out quickly. so im thinking about converting everything to sealed room, plugging up the intake exhaust that i spent hours cutting through drywall to make in the first place...
i have a 700CFM 10in exhaust with a can 150 that pulls air, and a 10inch passive intake as well as negative pressure being drawn through the door when its open. i like the air movement, i run it 24/7 and its main use is keeping the humidity down and the air circulating. you can stand in the middle of the room and feel the air movement which i like..
But im still having issues with heat. a couple things i have planned are to throw the glass back on my hoods and hook up a 6inch fan to suck out that hot air, thats the main culprit i believe. only problem is, the room is positioned in a way that the only place i could exhaust that hood air is right into the same room where im puling passive intake air lol....unless i can run an extra 10 feet of ducting to pull it out through the exhaust hole...
WHat would need to be done to convert this to a sealed room? i did a little research but the ventilation 101 thread is mostly about intake/exhaust in mini cabs...no 10x10 bedrooms information i could find.
are there other options i should try before converting?
would installing a minisplit solve those problems, or would it also be useless due to the fact im not sealed...
thanks in advance for all advice, props dished out accordingly..
