damping off , i use coco coir for cloning no rooting gels or powder and get roots within 5-7 days , you don't want coco wet only damp /moist like has already been said , stick a dome over the top for the first few days then start to open it up by the 5th day the dome is off , each strain will root at different times not every strain will root quick also mother plants need to be in tip top condition
