Well, I dont know if there are any more admirers of Hitchens here, but I just wanted to give an RIP for this very smart, always thought-provoking, and never boring man.

I admire nothing so much as a person who clearly comes to their own conclusions on everything regardless of who, or which group of who, it annoys. The fact that he annoyed most everyone in one way or another, and simultaneously brought applause and cheers from the very same people made him unique and deeply admirable IMHO.

We will miss him.

Granted, outside of faith there are things we yet to know. But on the chance that Christopher is rebuffed by St. Peter, he'll request to actually SEE God before being dispelled.

Obviously, having dealt with the great wave of humanity itself is little preparation for the greatest analytical debater of [recent] memory. Being that St Peter is no match for the great mind, Christopher is granted his request.

Christopher engages the Almighty himself in heavenly debate.
Of course, Christopher out wits the Big Witty and is relegated to Hell via express lane.




I watched a gaggle of political hacks paying last respects on a talk show that Hitchens frequented. One rather astute, female journalist admitted Chris bagged every woman he set out to.

Where I didn't necessarily agree with Hitchens was his political ideology. But more than making up for this small notion was the fact he shredded the false narrative and was particularly disgusted that his ideology today largely rests on politicized rhetoric, not ideological virtue. I addition he accepted some of the modern, practical applications as evidence that some of his non-politicized argument doesn't work.

Gonna miss the guy and I'm happy he's no longer in misery.

I liked Christopher Hitchens although I didn't agree with his later turn to the right. He will be missed. but now the question that comes to mind is was he right or not, only he knows for sure.

he never really turned right, and he never started on the left.

He made each call on it's own merits and in his own judgement. That's what I liked most about him.

He truly didn't give a fuck about either 'side' in the first place. He didn't fashion his positions to please a crowd and he had many elements of both sides of the political canyon that he openly assaulted and even ridiculed.

It is the rarest of traits ....
