They were seriously going to throw this lab oven in the dumpster. I thought maybe it was broken but I tested it out and it works perfectly! It's a Quincy Labs gc30 Lab oven, new ones go for around $1,000 and I can't believe I got to it before it got trashed. The gods were definitely smiling upon me. I'm going to try making all kinds of shit in this thing (can't use flammable s with it). First of which will be as a warming cabinet for some Malawi-Style cob fermentation, which has been an obsession for a couple of weeks now.

The oven has three holes on the top for thermometers to calibrate the temperature dial, or one could stick a thermometer into whatever is being heating. "The unit can operate 25 degrees F (15 degrees C) above room temperature but temperature stability will be degraded. Stability improves
appreciably for settings that exceed ambient by 40 degrees F (20 degrees C) or better.", with a high temp of 450/232.

Blows my mind...

Your cobs are definitely a reason why I'm trying it! They look amazing! I have all necessary supplies, except the corn husks. All sold out in town and I don't trust the fields around, probably full of pesticides. I'm going to run out of town to the Mexican grocery store. Plant material has been drying in slightly humid conditions for about 3 days. Going to try making several over the next few days as it continues to dry.
