Cheap macro-camera

Good macros are made with good (expensive) lenses.

Compact digicams are comming after...

My Canon IXUS 800IS took pretty good amateur macros.
The cam combined macro (1 cm) with digital zoom.
Up till 3.4 digital zoom the results were decent.

Now I´ve just read about a Pentax compact cam with led-lights for macros...

I´ve preordered Pentax Optio W90....
In a few weeks I´ll let you know if it was worth the investment :)

And was it worth the investment? I'm looking for a new camera myself and macro ability is an important functionality for me

OK Guys

I went through this before Christmas, I kept seeing these great Macro shots from gent and I shot him a PM and asked "What camera" He replies!

You will not believe me when I tell you.

OK

He says I bought it from Walmart for $79 ???

What??

Cannon A490. And it will shoot trichomes shots. I had the kids buy me one for Christmas and it is everything I ever needed in a camera. Takes great regular pics too! Here are a few shots I took. I am still learning but this camera is the Bomb for the $$$

Hi guys :)

98 % of the pics in my 2011 outdoorthread are taken with this Pentax Optio W90.
Take a look in the thread here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=4632004#post4632004

I´ll say the LED-lights are crap....otherwise it takes decent pics.
It´s small, quick and.....okay, take a look of theese pics from today.

Subject is a small LowRyder grown in a 12 liter bucket together with another LR.
The no. 2 LR didn´t get the alien infection :bump:

Here we go. Pics taken outside in daylight, handhold.

Paddi the images look enlarged and cropped to me. I've been following your grow and you do have some nice lighting shots with this model. Thanks for sharing..DD

Pics are copyed to my pc, opened in Irfanview, change size to half and finally give it a small sharpen ("shift+s" one time).
I sharpen one time since the halfsized pics gets a little "fuzzy".

But here they are again.
This time juse resized in Irfanview from 4000x3000 pixels to 2000x1500 pixels (couldn´t uploade original size to ICMag!)
Size on my pc are 195-394 kb.
I dont know what uploading to ICMag does to them.

Enjoy

Doobie, you'd know! best get me an educated eye prior to the camera!:ying:

Paddi they are excelent for that type camera. Trich it would depend on how "huge-ass" your files were and how sharp they are to begin with. No shake, perfectly focused pix can be enlarged and cropped into some nice macro or extreme close up pix. There are a lot of variables...good job Paddi on showing us what it will do. DD
