Hello All,

Pardon my absence over the past month, but I've been steadily progressing in many ways. First and foremost, one of my classmates from graduate school recieved her Gohonzon on August 4th! I have been encouraging her for almost a year, and my first shakubuku of this year, a young man, is getting daily encouragement to chant and continue to develop his practice.

Secondly, my good friend PTD really inspired me earlier this year with his newest business venture and I started to work on my first incorporatable business in the USA. I'm still in the development phase, but I'm very excited and many people are already encouraging me and seemingly extending the protection of the Buddhist Gods around my life. This new endeavor is bringing daily challenges, consistent rewards and more room to expand my life and spread this Buddhism throughout the world.

Thirdly, tonight I hope to transcribe my final poems into computer text tonight so that I could augment my 35 typed poems in a collection of abobut 80 poems I wrote since the Spring of this year. I have been diligently working on this book and will be publishing it privately to share with my family and friends. (You Chanting Growers are all entitled to a copy!) My hope is to spread my Buddhist practice throughout my family and friends even further, by sharing my life in prose with them (as a start). Later on I hope to continue my autobioigraphical writings and finalize literature to encourage youth with my experience. Just like Shinichi Yamamoto, from The New Human Revolution Series, had Makiguichi and Toda; I'm extremely fortunate to have had Makiguichi, Toda, Sensei Ikeda, Mr. Tony Matsuoka, Mr. Ted Osaki, PasstheDoobie, Babbabud&Mrs.Babbabud to nurture me throughout the last 8 years plus(+).

Wow, my debt of gratitude to all of the aforementioned and participants of this thread and the original is tremendously beyond quantification at this point. So i could also advise you all that I was really chanting hard to reconnect and begin a means to re-establish my kosen-rufu extensions beyond my district and i have introduced many new people who have yet to attend meetings or recieve their Gohonzon. As you know my goals are pretty much centered around my desires for world peace.

However, I'm not going to lie, but controlling my reliance on pornagraphy has become a recently new short term goal for me. I introduced a friend who was getting laid, but wanted more girls. After he gets his Gohonzon he's banging models left and right. However, he had a few health scares in that process and meanwhile I end up reliving some of my horror stories from pages 179-1000+ of the last thread! The brother's faith and daimoku helped him over come tons of obstacles, but in the process I realize "damn I'm also way too fixated on porn and sex talk or trying to get laid myself that I'm fucking blowing off my facetime with the Gohonzon"! WTF!!! So not for nothing, from this moment forward I'm chanting more and going to wack off less because, shit, I prefer having my life condition super elevated. I love chanting, but my scumbag brain (part of my good ole manifested body) sure loves to keep me riled up and going in every direction, but straight to the Gohonzon sometimes!

Like seriously, okay, you wake up - then what?! Read the thread, news, shower, dress, all while burning throughout all of the above :D I like this scheme better: Wake up, stretch towards the chanting room, chant loud, coffee, shower, get dressed, chant again, bounce into my day... Seems like I have some life planning to do. Buddhism is reason and I'm greatful for all these publications from the SGI like our monthly magazine and the World Tribune. I highly reccomend everyone to renew their subscriptions and access everything online too! To those who want to know more check out www.sgi-usa.org

Big hug to all my friends. Glad to see you back Socal!! I bow in humble obeisance to all of you magnificent Buddha's throughout the ten directions!

"The underlying difference between someone who is clever and someone who isn't can be imagined as the difference between the top and the bottom side of a line drawn in pencil. It is really insignificant."

"A favorable environment does not guarantee that one can study. Wherever you are, be it on a train or even in the bathroom, that can be your classroom."

"The confusion of knowledge for wisdom is one of the great misfortunes of our times. ... Knowledge and wisdom are not the same thing. While knowledge may be a door that opens the path to wisdom, it is not, in itself, wisdom."

I continued writing last night and transcribed five more poems and have about 30 more to go! I still want to finish by Sunday night so I have to focus more energy on that. Today I secured a loan to continue paying for graduate school, and also intentionally bumped into a friend from 2009. Sharing hope and Buddhist principles was the way I handled myself today, and tomorrow I plan to do the same thing.

Let's keep reaching out to others every chance we get and sharing our sincere brand of hope, courage and wisdom derived from our prayers to the Gohonzon. You all have great potential!

"It is also important that you develop yourselves, polish your character, and develop human relationships as individuals who are trusted by others. People are influenced and inspired by other people. They follow those who come across as pleasant, honest, genuine, and warm. Such individuals who have these qualities are likely to do well in business, and others will readily listen to what they have to say about Buddhism. However, people will not be drawn to those who are unpleasant, unkind, selfish, and cold. Far from promoting the Law, the bad example of such individuals will end up detracting from people's estimation of those teachings.

"That's why I wish to stress to you that your human revolution and your character development hold the key to everything in both your work and in kosen-rufu."

"These are hard times economically. That's all the more reason to rouse strong faith and, no matter how difficult your situation, show clear actual proof in your daily life, your workplace, and your community.

"Nichiren Daishonin writes: `All phenomena are manifestations of the Buddhist Law' (WND-2, 841). As practitioners of Nichiren Buddhism, it is our mission to demonstrate in society the benefit of our Buddhist practice. For that reason, I hope each of you, based on faith in the Mystic Law, will challenge yourselves even more than others to study, work hard, and exercise ingenuity in your respective areas."

The people we have the chance to meet in life are a treasure.
The friends we have are our immense good fortune.
Let's always try to keep old friendships warm
and at the same time try to build new ones, wherever we go.
Let's make each day a truly fruitful and meaningful one!

The Daishonin encourages us with the following words,
"Exert yourself in the two ways of practise and study."*
With youthful energy,
let's do all we can to study this Buddhism
and share what we learn from its philosophy with others.
Now is the very time, together with our friends,
for us to challenge our human revolution.

Daisaku Ikeda

*"Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practise and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practise and study arise from faith. Teach others to the best of your ability, even if it is only a single sentence or phrase." - "The True Aspect of All Phenomena", WND-I, page 386

"There is definitely something extraordinary in the ebb and flow of the tide, the rising and setting of the moon, and the way in which summer, autumn, winter, and spring give way to each other. Something uncommon also occurs when an ordinary person attains Buddhahood."

" Faith is a spiritual struggle against doubt, against a wavering mind. It is the struggle to break through delusion and lack of confidence—which make us think we cannot become happy or that we are hopeless. It is to bring the power of the Mystic Law to well forth from within and establish absolute conviction."

Life is all about taking action.
And Buddhism is about progressing and advancing.
The more we make an effort to meet and talk with others,
the more we can expand and develop our circle of friends
and at the same time elevate our life conditions to a higher level!
Let's enthusiastically be in the forefront of our movement,
engaging in dialogue with as many people as we possibly can.
