Are you guys using the 315w Greenpower TDs or the Philips 315w CDMs?! I just came across the TDs (formerly known as Agro Elites) and the spectrums look identical. Whats the big difference? Thanks ya'll!

I have one 315w Agro 930 (pre-Greenpower), and a number of plain Philips 930 315w lamps (pre-Agro). They both seem to work fine - I know that the Agro should have the edge, but the plain 930's work very well, too.

Do you know off hand which bulb has higher par/lumens? I remember talking to the Philips rep about yield when I bought my 860. He said I'd be better off with one 315 on a light mover. I told him he's on some serious meds and laughed at him...I'm such an idiot lol. I'll hopefully find out soon. Really loving this 860 tho...

No, I don't. I have all the data sheets on my other machine, but I'm not near it at the moment. I think that they are all relatively close though, but the Agro has a significant increase in red right around 660nm and the blue is diminished a bit.

Phillips site is not easy to understand, but when i look at thier HID Horticulture section, i only see the Agro, not the greenpower.

Searching said site for greenpower, i only see the 600W 400W, and 250W, which i think are older bulbs, right?

Going by this it seems the agro is the newest bulb?

As I said before, I cant read those spectral charts at all. They seem so vague.
If you wanted max blue in your 315W grow, would you still recommend the agro? Is there another bulb in the running?

That's exactly what I want! IMHO all the CMHs have a little too much blue. They're amazing in veg. The slightly red dominate would be amazing for bloom. My old 400w retro HPS was awesome...which I think was also slightly more red.

it seems Phillips does not have a single multi lamp ballast. why are you looking at osram?

Because the site that sells the bulbs, lists the ballast as "related product" as well as 70w mag ballasts and ignitors. Also i was under the impression that the smaller wattage lamps did not need necessarily philips ballasts. The ballast is for osram "powerball" ceramic metal halide lamps.

Yep its for one bulb, but still would be a good price.

I believe that the Agro is offered in both 930 & 942 versions. If not, I know that the standard lamps are available in both spectra as well as in both T9 & T12 (double-jacketed, open-fixture rated) versions. Phililps does their color designations with the last two numbers, so a 930 lamp is 3000k and a 942 is 4200k. The 4200 version will have more blue in it and less red.

Here's a couple of sites for those looking for PGZ18 sockets.

Sold through Amazon but not by them. $25 a pop + $6 shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/LH0882-PGZ18-...8&qid=1392601426&sr=1-1&keywords=pgz18+socket

$15 a pop. With a minimum order of 10.
http://lighting.mitronix.com/item/metal-halide-lampholders/metal-halide/k577a?&bc=100|1063|1064|1013

$20 a pop. You have to order at least $25. So you have to get two or buy something else worth $5.

I'm still looking for better options and haven't bought any sockets yet so I couldn't speak to the quality. Or if there is a difference in socket quality.

habeeb;
sorry for not catching this sooner.

nope. there's dual 315 systems though, or hooking two bulbs in a system together. who wants to pay for 2 bulbs though.. not me
is there a single ballast that will drive 2 315W? or are these dual ballast systems?

Have two separate 400w retro white rigs which have had the same bulbs run 12/12 continuously for over three years now.
I meant to replace the bulbs a couple years ago, but they just kept producing great plants...so I said fck it. :dance013:

But I'm running 133w/ft so it's no biggie if the bulbs lose a little power.

Thnx for the link ;) I still don't see the PAR ratings tho...
so the link is to a single post. if you click on the thread link in the upper right you can change to a whole thread view. if you scroll up a few posts you will see where i link the data sheets.

Philips states the output in PPF (PhotosyntheticPhoton Flux). the rating is 1.9 umols /sec

for conversion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthetically_active_radiation

what bulb are you comparing it to?
