Can a small seed sample still have adequate genetic diversity to create a seed line?

So another thing to consider is what other traits you want from your AF line. If in your F2 generation you have a outstanding female with that trait but it's photosensitive you should still consider using it .Just choose a healthy vigorous AF male to cross it with. You can select for AF and that trait in that generation. There's a good chance that there will be AFs in there because the female likely had recessive AF genes.Worst case you will have to take it one more generation.

I've known experienced growers who said 4 was enough. That was in Willits Mendocino so there were plant limits.

And another grower who did grow-outs of 100 seeds at a time - in BC.

You get a lot of what there is to get with a small sample size.

But Mother Nature knows what she's doing - and she does grow-outs with 1000's of seeds - most of which get eaten shortly after sprouting.
