Chimera - Here in California you don't get a prescription, you get a recommendation. It may be just a question of semantics, but there is a difference between the two. Too bad you can't remember the name of the treaty. It'd be interesting to see exactly how it is worded.

Yep you heard it right. While waiting for my morning flight from London to Amsterdam I was pulled aside by the London Airport Customs / Police. It seems that they are now scanning all luggage and detected my medicine in my checked baggage. When they took me down to the customs area there was my bag torn apart and my meds laying on the table along with all the other stuff that I picked up from the UK Hemp Expo. To make a long story short I was released and allowed to go on my way but I missed my flight and so the customs agent took me to the airline counter and they put me onto the next flight to Amsterdam. I had a little over 55 grams with me in my baggage as I was planning on entering the Afghani Bullrider into this years HTCC which will now have to wait till next year. I believe what saved my ass from being taken to jail was my Health Canada Exemption. The customs officer did say that there was no sort of medical program in the UK but he simpathized with me and even went as far as to appologize for having to take away my medicine. So if you are planning to travel to the UK be sure NOT to take any MMJ with you.

It is not just a question of semantics...
The med state laws in the US allow use under a doctors "recommendation" because if a doctor were to "prescribe" a drug which is illegal under federal law, and not approved by the FDA, then the prescribing doctor would be subject to prosecution and loss of medical license.
It is a distinction which was made to protect doctors, unfortunately it offers none of the federal or international protection to the patient that a prescription would.
Thats sucks bro
I had them go through my bags on my last flight. Luckily, I had nothing in there, just a note from the department of homeland security that they did it, and they won't replace my luggage lock.
Hopefully the rest of trip goes well
And Happy Birthday
next year brother
and you know what would have happened, I would have had my shit searched too. I am sure they would not be as forgiving to a DG
What legally makes the difference is wether or not the doctor wrote out a prescription. the difference is about the legal document. of course one can make the semantics argument (in a forum, not in court), but what I was talking about was US law.In Canada the dr perscribes a daily dosage. My perscription is for 26 gr per day. Now I DON'T smoke 26 gr per day but I sure do use 26 gr per day. I eat, vape, smoke my mmj!
In Canada you just can't go into a dr office a pay them $150 and get a recommendation like you can in California. It's like looking for a needle in a hay stack to find a dr who is willing to sign the Health Canada forms.
I understand that rules and regulations for medical marijuana vary from state to state. It would suck being in a medical state and travelling to a non medical state and getting caught. The feds really need to get their head out of their ass and just LEGALIZE

Then the international treaty would apply.pharmaceutical |ˌfärməˈsoōtikəl|
adjective
of or relating to medicinal drugs, or their preparation, use, or sale.
I would also suggest flying direct to Amsterdan next time. I have crossed customs in Schipol with plant products, seeds, etc, and not once was I stopped for questioning.... they put my bag right through the scanner and let me on my way. I also know others who have gone through Schipol with boxes of clones.
But what strikes me odd is that I was leaving the country so you would have thought that they would be more interested in people entering the UK not leaving it!
Sorry to hear of your little glitch Marco, hope Dam makes it all better
When you say "the customs agent took me to the airline counter and they put me onto the next flight to Amsterdam" Do you mean that you did not have to pay any extra ? Customs will arrange for you to get another flight even though it is your fault they detained you ? I hope so, getting bummed hundreds of ££s by the Airline, as well as loosing your stash and entry would really suck.
I seem to remember UK Customs allow quite a lot as "personal" before they try to get you for distribution. A Kilo or two springs to mind, plenty of people go on holiday and buy more of the cheap local gear than they can smoke, and then get tempted to bring a bit back "just for themselves"....
