hey guys, to make a long story short, I thought I lost this girl...I have a bunch of good strains that iv had but havnt flowered them all in a while. I gave what I thought was something else to a friend, he just shot me some nugs after never seeing his stuff, turns out to be the BDSSH 100%!!! Im excited as shit because I thought she was a goner forever. glad to know I have her going strong and soon to flower out.

anyway, I really want to know more about this strain iv been growing for years. Im pretty sure it came from a user Bubbadutch, back on the OG days. other than that, and its name and a few other homies on here that have or have had her, I dont know shit about it. Id really like to know what the parents are, where they came from...any good info on it at all would be greatly appreciated.

the BDSSH is one hell of a plant, anyone whos had her knows what I mean....just candy medicine gooey goodness. crazy funky smell, amazing yielder when u dial her in...all that good shit. ahh, what a great strain. wish I still had some of my old pics!

thanks fellas.

Ill add that I DO know what super silver haze is made of, haha...just need to know more about this particular one. was it just a more indica dom, super dank pheno? I wonder where it started.

no one reading this thinks the BDSSH deserves alittle spot light? shes special in my book.

The SSH contributions from Bubba Dutch were always impressive. Gotta love the good old OG days.

Here is some info straight from Bubba Dutch:

Shantibaba’s SSH ( NL#5xN.Haze X SK#1xN.Haze) is a great strain for those looking for a Haze hybrid... that doesn’t stretch out of control. Yields quite well with a reasonable flowering cycle and produces very resinous flowers of the highest quality.

I started out with 3 packs of SSH beans purchased from GreenHouse coffeeshop in 98 (before Shanti left to form his own independant seed company, Mr.Nice). Out of 39 seeds I ended up with 26 females, out of those 3 major phenotypes were visible:

1) Pure Sativa pheno
This one grew very similar to Neville’s Haze, very thin serrated leaves, tall & branchy (like a Christmas tree) with medium-long internodal length. Typically stretches 3x or more its original height when flowered, 12+ week flowering cycle. Buds are very fluffy airy/hairy (low yield), foxtail in appearance, poor calyx to leaf ratio. Not much smell when growing, slight piney scent. Taste after the cure was piney spicey with a hint on sandalwood. The high is long lasting very intense visual racey/paranioa experience.
4 of the 26 females showed these extreme Sativa growth patterns.

2) Skunk/Haze pheno
This one is easily manageable and has the appearance of a typical Sativa/Indica mix. Thin-medium sized leaves but has a stockier bushy profile with tight internodal length. Stretch is controlled only 1/2 to 2x original size, 8-10 week flowering period. Buds are quite dense (nice yielder) & are covered in big shiny silver colored trichomes. Decent calyx to leaf ratio, smell is quite strong like spicey rotten fruit that has been sprayed by a skunk. Taste is very spicey with slightly sweet skunky undertones. The high is a powerful blend of Sativa/Indica effects comes on quick & leaves you dazed-N-confused in a foggy haze.
10 out of 26 females exhibited these traits.

3) Best pheno
The last pheno is your quintessential SSH pheno; the one you see most in Amsterdam coffeeshops. It has similar growth pattern as the Sk/Haze pheno but not as branchy and grows slightly taller with tight-medium internodal length. Again stretch is controlled 2x original height during flowering. 9-10 week blooming cycle. This pheno displays great hybrid vigor. During flowering buds explode with growth. Flowers are spiral shaped, big & dense (great yielder) yet still light at the same time due to the stacked swollen calyxes. Resin production is excellent; even stems around the flowers are covered. High calyx to leaf ratio. Smell is fairly strong floral & spicey with a hint of sweetness. Taste is very spicey with a great hazey slightly sweet aftertaste. The high is pretty much the same as Sk/Haze pheno, stupifying mix of Sativa and Indica effects. The Sativa side is visual mentally confusing (hard to think straight/concentrate) while the Indica is just enough to relax the body (kill the pain) & take away most of the edgy racey paranoia feeling of the Haze.
12 of 26 females leaned toward this pheno

Overall (8.5 rating), I was quite happy with SSH & highly reccommend it. Good for commercial grows while still having the quality to satisfy most any hardcore cannabis smoker.

great info Hortilab, thank you very much. the BDSSH cut that was passed around sounds like a mix of the last two. I guess it was just his favorite pheno, and made its way around. Im just happy to know I have her safe and sound. altho, not much hazyness asfar as smell and taste goes IMHO.

this can be a BDSSH appreciation thread aswell, anyone please feel free to post pics of this gem. (please, just post pics of BDSSH, not your other SSH phenos just to post them....not the same thing)

thanks guys.

Nice to hear you didn't loose her TS, I'm sure you are one of the few people that still have this cut going.

I've had the bdssh for almost 13 years now. There are better ssh selections to be found as far as head stash goes but few can keep up in the yield department.
It was passed around as a "commercial cut" due to its production capabilities.

bdssh random info...
best when grown indoors in a hydro/aero system.
9-10 weeks flowering time.
vulnerable to powdery mildew
great for SCROG & dwc applications
turns purple with cooler temps
outdoors finishes mid-late Oct with heavy yields

I've also made quite a few crosses with it, she passes along her bushy profile & propensity to turn colors to her offspring.

This is pretty cool stuff ! Even though I have never had the pleasure of growing Bubba Dutch, I have smoked it . Had a friend send me a few samples some years back with a bunch of others . The Bubba Dutch really stuck out and impressed the most . This is top shelf smoke all the way .

I was under the impression that the oldsog and plumber cuts are the same, as old sog got the cut from a plumber friend.......

Ive run the oldsog and bubba dutch, kept the bubba dutch and culled the oldsog.

anyone else out there growing this girl? shes incredible. I have half the mind to do a solid BDSSH run...you cant go wrong...yield would be thru the roof and the buds are soooo good in every category IMHO.

here she is day 64...gettin there.

*EDIT* I was reading back on this thread and some ppl say it doesnt have that haze kick...this is true, I kind of disregard it as a haze. its just the good ol' BDSSH to me! haha. I dont see much haze in it at all, just straight medicinal fire. it does seem to have a more sativa leaf structure to me tho. smell is almost like fruity pebbles and skunks. when u break a bud open its super thick gooey trichage, purple outlined calyx. Iv always thought it had this medicney thing goin on, something about the smell and taste, especially after a good cure thats kinda cherry cough medicine haha, call me nuts. Im baked.
